Why is wedding called "The Big Day"?
is it because of the money? or big celebrations? anyone know?

'Big' has meant 'important' since the 16th century. As a result, the phrase: 'The Big Day' has been attached to all sorts of vital occasions, such as becoming an adult at 18, giving birth, playing in an important match and so on. It just means it's important.
My guess would be that you're not married then?
