Hi hope someone can help before I call the council.

I have own my current house for 3 years. We have the 1st plot so have road sign in our front garden.

I have just returned from school run to find the council have mowed part of my lawn!! This is the 2nd time, neither had my permission. I'm not happy to say the least!

Question is, where do i stand? Should they be paying me or can I ask them to remove sign? Thanks

you need to check the exact boundary as it is possible a certain footage from the roadside remained their property
I'd be grateful they were mowing my lawn! -but seriously - best find out in case you decide to plant something near the sign and they come dig it up -I presume its an open-plan garden?
Do you have a boundry fence or wall and they stepped over this? or is it open plan?

As already said you may find they have a right to come and do work to the signage but should let you know.

Sometimes you own land and have a duty to maintain it but can't actually do anything with it.

What do your deeds say about boundrys and signage?

Thanks all, I wouldn't have minded so much if they had done it all!!!

Ok I will have to find deeds and check. It's open plan.
If it's open plan then they may well have the burden of maintenance for that part of the highway.

Even if it is on your deeds as part of your property.

If you mow the lawn then they wouldn't bother.
