About 45 years ago a stall-holder in London's Chapel Market, selling peanuts, used to repeatedly shout out something that sounded like 'Bristol Me'. Can anyone explain this?

I can't see how it might help, but bristol is Cockney rhyming slang for breast on the basis of 'Bristol City'. If you've never heard of that, I'm sure you can work out which exact word for breast is involved.
Sorry I can't suggest an explanation of 'breast me' in the circumstances you describe; however, there is a multitude of OTHER words for breast, one of which may well work...bust me, boob me, tit me etc. Good luck!
Maybe he was saying KP they make them Well you know bag and salt them
There's a Facebook Group "I Grew Up in Islington". Members share memories of the area, you might find an answer there. If you're interested in the area, you'll find views of Chapel Market, Angel, Kings Cross etc (but will have to search the 3,000+ photos!). I know that some time ago people posted about a one legged peanut seller in Chap.

Thank you for these suggestions - and yes he was a one-legged peanut seller.
From the FB Group - His name was Tim(my) Finch and his shout may have been "Best on me".
its still there, changed of course, lots of the old guard have gone, but it limps on. Sunday is now part farmers market

i know, lol
know the market well, wish that more people used it, then perhaps it wouldn't be struggling. There are now three supermarkets on its doorstep, so you can have a guess as to the impact.

Timmy Finch, as I have now discovered he was called, had his stall just by Norman and his brothers, who sold food items at very low prices. I'm sure many will remember them.
