haven't done this in a while but have just roasted up broc and cauli a la delia smith and it was delish. i did a whole head of each and we ate the lot no problem, just the two of us.
cut both into fairly decent sized florets, put into a roasting tin and splosh with olive oil. sprinkle with salt, garlic granules or real chopped garlic (optional) and quite a lot of ground corriander (makes all the difference) and toss it around. roast for 25 minutes in a fairly hot oven, maybe 180.
somehow the roasting really concentrates the flavours, makes it really, really tasty.

It is a really good recipe, I've done it a few times.

Also broccoli tossed in oil, roasted for 10-15 minutes, then add chopped red chilli, sliced clove of garlic and a good splash of soy sauce, back in oven for 5-7 minutes.
I love roasted veg, they take on a whole new flavour. There is nothing worse, IMO, than boiled cauli.

yes boxy, have to agree, it was sooo much tastier than boiled. used to do it fairly regularly but haven't for quite a while, will have to add it to my veg list again it was so nice.
After I have cooked caulie I drain it add a some horseradish sauce to it and give a quick whizz in the micro, also done it with mustard, they both really perk it up.
Am going to try this tonight
I love broc and cauli
Plus, any leftovers can be whizzed into a soup. Broccoli/cauli and stilton soup is delicious.
I have never thought of roasting broccoli or cauli.....will now :-)

another tasty way of having broc and cauli is to boil/steam it in the usual way but maybe for a bit longer so it's fairly soft. drain and then either mash with a fork or use a whizzer to wizz it up in the pan and add some grated cheese, mature is good so you can really taste it, and if you use low fat then the whole thing is pretty healthy. i use this to top a cottage pie or just instead of mashed potato with a meal.
i fancy ecclescakes idea too, with garlic, chilli and soya sauce. you get a bit fed up with the same old same old don't you?
ummmm, don't over roast it as the broc particularly can get a bit too charred on the ends.
Ethan....I think that's why I've never thought to roast it. I love roast veg though...I'm just thinking I can do, more or less, a roast dinner in one roasting dish now...

Not like I'm lazy or anything :-)
Hi ethandron. Have you ever tried cauli and broc in tempura? I used to have it in my favourite restaurant.
