I'm watching a documentary about them with Ray Davis and I hadn't realised how prolific - and how good - they were. Brilliant! Any fans out there?

Great though. The programme's finished now, but I so enjoyed that. I could seriously go partying now - but I don't expect it would do me much good. Haaaa!

Night all. x
The Kinks were one of the first British bands to really break big in the U.S. where they toured constantly.

Ray Davies is an amazing songwriter - he can paint a scene with a sentence, reminds me very much iof Chuck Berry for that.

The band were down to play at the very first Glastonbury, but when the media referred to a 'little festival', the band's 'people' thought it would not do their reputation as a cutting-edge band any good to be assocaited with anything 'little' and they pulled them out of the gig. All fortgiven now though - Ray Davies played the festival last year.
My brother in law is the proud owner of Ray Davies' old guitar..bought it from him at some kind of convention/reunion that took place in the north london pub venue they used to play at.
Yes, I'm a fan - for me the 3rd most important 60s band behind the Beatles and Stones, largely because of Ray Davies songwriting.
He's still going strong, but hasn't done anything particularly interesting for about 30 years it has to be said - sorry RD fans.
..make that 40 years. flippin eck, doesn't time fly!

I just hadn't realised he was such a prolific songwriter, or that they had recorded so much. Simply superb!!

How's my avatar now, Ludwig? Do you think it suits me better than the last?
Is that a trick question Naomi?..it's the same one.
