In the butchers this morning I spotted some home made faggots and asked for some. The woman serving me said I couldn't use that word and said they were called rissoles. The world has gone mad!

The supermarkets still sell frozen Mr Brains faggots so I don't know what her problem was
But you can still buy Bloomers in the bakers, ooeerr missus
Brains, who I as far as I am aware, are the only people who sell them frozen still call them faggots, I think its just that butchers it seems that many people have thier own rules.
Would it be appropriate to ask the butcher if the faggots were from a gay (happy) animal and was the animal slaughtered by a straight man?

i could never bring myself to try them, still convinced they are made out of brains
The butcher or the woman serving is a rissole.
'***' for 'homosexual man' is American English, isn't it ? Why can't they use proper English and ignore what might offend an American?
I thought Rissoles were typically beef, and Faggots were pork? Maybe I'm way off. The shops here sell faggots though.
LOL I typed faggots in the singular and it got censored. Now, if the plural is censored I shall claim discrimination!
We used to get the most delicious home made faggots from a Butchers in Baldock back in the 70's. They were served everyday from the ovens hot and steamy and people queued for them. I don't fancy the miserable offerings you see these days
I now fancy one!!
(with some turnips of course!!)

'Popping out to smoke a fag' means you're off to shoot a homosexual, in the States.
Is 'turnips' a euphimism here Lottie?

Ooooh, and indeeed errrr Missus!
