Second Life - new download

I've just downloaded the new Second life viewer. Now I can't get in. The error reads:-
"Login failed. Despite our best efforts, something has gone wrong. Please check status.secondlifegrid.net to see if there is a known problem with the service. If you continue to experience problems, please check your network and firewall setup."
The website basically says it works! My fiewall and network seems fine.
Can anyone help please?
