Just over a week ago Sir Alex Ferfuson said Rooney would be out of action for several weeks, yet he played in last night's match. Had Fergie been trying to fool Bayern? The fact that Rooney was limping within minutes suggested Rooney really wasn't ready. Strikes me that Fergie is only interested in Man Utd and, maybe because he's a Scot, is not in the least interested in helping England. Without Rooney, England may as well not turn up to the World Cup. If Rooney had an ounce of intelligence, he'd rule himself out until the biggest showpiece of his career. Instead he was not fit enough for the last World Cup and looks like he'll struggle in this one.

One other thought: why's it always England's top players who get foot injuries before World Cups? Why don't the likes of Messi and Ronaldo get broken metatarsals at this time?

Rooney must be mad, risked further injury putting him at risk for the World cup.
Hope you'll be happy watching it on TV Wayne, because that's what will happen if you listen to the sweaty sock.
This was a medical decision not a managerial one...............in my opinion.
Fergies decision is final in my opinion
Justin....you may well be right....who knows, but do you think that if the medics said that he was not fit to play, Fergy would have played him?
I have no comment on sarah ferguson or coleen rooney - I just wanted to take this opportunity to my much-maligned and seldom-these-days-heard Sqadlet xx
I'm afraid i do, sorry.
Actually I'll alter that answer. If the medic said "He should be ok but maybe it's a bit of a risk" then fergie would risk it.
salla....I have to watch my step now, the Witches of Eastwick save my "fruity" comments for evidence at a later stage :-)
justin....that wasn't my question.....but you are probably correct.
I never had you down sqad, as a man who was put off by a few white witches....!
salla :-)
sorry chirpy cheep cheep - I'll let you guys and Jayne get back to the far more important subject of football....
If you watched you would have seen Sir Alex gesture to Rooney to see if he (the player) was ok
Fergie said he would be out for maybe two to three weeks.

Then he said he was leaving it up to Rooney, I don't know who you support but if the best player in my team was saved to help England I wouldn't be very happy.
Fergie does whats best for Man U and so he should.

If Rooney had an ounce of intelligence??? I'm not expecting to see him on Mastermind anytime soon - In fact i'm not expecting to see him on DonD anytime soon.
Whats DonD?
