Will I make the Holland crack ?
I always used to tell the ladies "Dont worry ill pay for this date and you pay for the next"
A little cocky, but there was always a second date.
Straight down the middle.
I'd prefer to go dutch.
I'm old-fashioned..............the gentleman should pay.
Sachs I agree with you if the man is poor, but surely the man should pay showing his caring side, his will to help, this will earn you respect, admiration if done in the correct way, though if you do it in a macho dominating "Me man you woman" way it'll blw up in your face.
jack,
I think you've got it right!
Depends - if he's asked you out for a meal - let him pay. If you've asked him out - you should pay. If he makes twice as much as you - let him pay twice as often
The man should certainly offer, even if they do end up splitting it...

So what happen if your skint but you really want to go out with somebody .
The truth is if a great connection is made then both of you will be fighting to pay, which then gives you reason to get touchy and feely as you touch the others hands saying "No put that away Im paying" as you collapse in giggles.
(Sigh) Aint the begining of a new relationship just magic.
that's spot on actuallly!
"So what happen if your skint but you really want to go out with somebody"

You stay at home and save whilst watching reruns of "Only fools and horses" to pick up tips on how to make money.

You could take your date for a lovely romantic meal, have the most expensive meal on the menu, best wine, etc....set the mood ( you with me, so far?)......

and then when the waiter/waitress gives you the bill.... you say

"Ok.......lead me to the washing up.....i'm skint".....

Will go down a storm, i tell thee :0)
Early on in the meal, whoever is going to pay should tell the other one. It saves the embarrassing discussion at the end.

He just says ... "I hope you'll allow me to treat you tonight"

To which she replies ... "Yes. I'll have the lobster and a bottle of Romanee Conti"

ha ha

After the first date, sort it out before you even get there ...

"Do you fancy dinner Friday? My treat."
In that case joggerjayne then i'd have to use the trusted "Oops looks like ive forgotten my wallet at home, but ill have what you're having"
Either that, Jack, or you say ...

"You go out and get the car warmed up, while I settle the bill"

= I'll climb out of the toilet window, and hope you've got the engine running, LOL
Lol, the perfect crime joggerjayne.
