LMAO
Yep. It might help! But are you and I behind the times (or can we just remember when children were taught the basics properly as first priority). If you have the basics then other subjects become far easier to teach.

Wot - reeding, riting & rithmetic?
I agree with you sqad - I can't stand all this txt spk, how are kids ever going to learn how to spell properly?! That and the fact that handwriting is also dying a death because the computer and the internet does everything for them
pehaps it is where you live sqad. primary school children around near me already speak 3 languages.

Thick and Thicker are the norm these days Squad........or is it Dumb and Dumber ?
Primary School, in my opinion, should be to teach the basics properly and encourage a childs interest in other subjects. I worked in a very small primary school that was noted for it's excellence. The children went on to secondary schools being far in advance with the maths and english skills than most others. The Headteacher (in her late 50's) took early retirement when Nat.Curr. rules and regulations prevented her from teaching the way that had worked so well for the children.
these days ?
you should have seen some of the goons i went to school with.

evidently still as thick as a brick sh1thouse from their facebook status updates.

Have you ever met a mother who hasn't got a child who is "Computer Genius?"

I haven't.
And I should learn to put apostrophes in the right place!!! Back to school Lottie!!
Entrants should be tested before admittance to primary school. Most children at pre-school could learn English and thereby not hold up a primary class.
Shame so many children aren't learning proper spoken english before they start school - at home with their parents. The schools don't stand a chance. Learning begins at home.
This question should be in 'Education' by the way. Reported!! ;o)
if you asked a kid now about apostrophies, they would probably say "Isn't that the geezers Jesus hung out with"
Maybe not, they're probably not learning anything Christian anyway incase of a backlash!!!
