ok, so this might sound really confusing but i'm going to describe it as best i can;
there is a film that i remember watching in RME (don't know if this helps?), and it was about a group of schoolboys probably aged between 9 and 13 or something, and they get stranded on an island without their teachers (for some reason, i think the teachers drowned?), and they are left to fend for themselves. one main part i remember is when there is this chubby boy who has round glasses and i'm sure they call him something like piggy-face or something, and then they break his glasses and he starts crying?
if ANYONE knows this film PLEASE TELL ME!!! i remember it being reallly good and can't put a name to it! thank you :D

THANK YOU!! oh my god, you made my day, it's been annoying me! thank you so much, love it.
I vividly remember the film being reviewed on the film review programme at the time - 'Cinema', and it was described as "A film about children, made with children ... for adults."

At that time, an X-rated film was not shown to anyone under sixteen, and they were very strict, and of course, no videos or DVD's, so the boys in the film would have been unable to see the finished result.

Whatever you do,DON'T buy the cr@ppy American 1990 version, it sucks.
However,the original 1963 British version is nearest to the book(even if it is B&W).
"1963 British version is nearest to the book(even if it is B&W)"

I seem to recall the book was in B&W.
