I'd like to know your 10 desert island books. Just titles and authors.

These are the rules:

All trilogies can count as one book.

Any Shakespeare plays each count as one separate book.

On Desert Island Discs, you are already given The Bible, and a Complete Shakespeare. On my desert island, you are already given The Lord Of The Rings, the complete series of Harry Potter, and a survival guide.

So ... what would you choose? (take your time).

The life and times of Peter Rabbit.

Plus 9 more copies to replace the worn out ones.
If I was on a desert island with a pile of Shakespeare, I would use it to make a fire.

I have never understood what people see in that old tosh.
Latest books by Alex Kava, Tess Gerritsen, James Patterson, Michael Connelly, Harlan Coben.

1. The Diving Bell and the Butterfly - Jean-Dominique Bauby

2. Jemima J - Jane Green

3. Pride and Prejudice - Jane Austin

4. A Short History of Nearly Everything - Bill Bryson

5. Lady of Hay - Barbara Erskine

6. The complete Point Horror Series

7. How to get off a desert island for dummies - Dunno!

8. To Kill a Mokingbird - Harper Lee

9. Tuesday's Child - Louise Bagshawe

10. The complete Black Lace series

(that was REALLY tough!)
Oh I couldn't possibly narrow it down to only 10, but those I have read recently & been impressed by, & could easily read again:-

Shadow of the Wind - carlos ruiz zafon
The Night Trilogy - elie wiesel
Kite Runner - khaled hosseini
A Thousand Splendid Suns khalee hosseini
The Return - victoria hislop
Mrs Lincoln - janis cooke newman
After River - donna milner
Claudia, Daughter of Rome - antoinette may
East of the Sun - julia grigson
Time Traveller's Wife - audrey nifengegger

It's a hard question JJ cos I am an avid reader of almost anything - fiction, non, biogs etc.
Same here, Salla, I found that so tough because I read so much and such a wide variety too. Incidentally, the only book I couldn't finish was The Time Traveller Wife. I found it far too slow.
