Hi all Just wanted to ask your opinions on this - I am a 26y/o female and find myself a bit lost in the 'meeting potential suitable partners' arena. What kind of activities would you suggest are suitable for meeting men in the late 20s/early 30s range, who have their sh** together and are looking for something a bit more serious themselves ...? Thanks for your input.

If you are serious about meeting a potential partner I would seriously suggest Internet dating - sounds a bit sad but it has all the advantages and is widely used by busy professionals. I met my wife that way.

Thanks Rekstout. Have been on a couple of internet dates - some were a bit wierd, the others were nice - but no real connection. I suppose it's a numbers game tho, the more you go on the more likely ... Cheers for that.
hmm.. I fit into your category :oP

Hehehe PaulB - not going down the online route again. Nothing against it and clearly it works for some. Sure you are lovely tho!
;o)
Why not try the tried and trusted 'agony aunt' solution - join a club or society that shares your interest. By definition, anyone you meet - including ladies, it always help to widen your circle of friends, they know other guys, etc., will share your interest, and you may make some friends, and eventually find something deeper. It's certainly worth a shot.

That's exactly what I was thinking Andy ... when you say 'agony aunt' tho - what do you mean ? and 'your interest' meaning meeting potential partners or something else, like tennis ??
Hi psyphi, by 'agony aunt', I was referring to the ladies, and less often, gentlemen, who answer readers' problems in popular magazines - this is a common subject, and their answer is invariably the same - it moves towards a new area of life, which may lead to some new friends, and will certainly put you into a more sociable environment. By 'interest' I did mean a hobby or past time that you enjoy, and can share with other people who are like minded.

I seeee - yeah, totally agree with you, think this is the way to go too. But what if I am not sporty at all - I tend to go for things like yoga and dancing - hardly places brimming with eligable bachelors ...
Seriously, you could join an online group such as Yahoo Groups or MSN groups to talk to people with similar interests. I'm in the same boat as you (not selling myself here!!!) and I've made loads of friends through a spin off group from Answerbank regulars, have a look!

The front page picture isn't indicative of the group as a whole. Honest...
I wouldn't worry too much that activities are based on sports - why not try a walking group/ Check out your local lbrary, council, and CAB for contacts for activities in your area.
Don't suppose you live in SW England?!! I'm in a similar boat, need to change circles for sure. Evening classes could be a good one.
Question Author
Cheers all for your input. I live in London country_boy. Evening classes sound like an idea. Andy, I see what you're saying - are there any particular activities that are more male-orientated (coz ballroom dancing and yoga sure ain't!) ;-) Lodekka & PaulB - will look into the online groups thing. Cheers me dears!
Judging by the fact that tou're her on the Answerbank, maybe you have a pretty good level of General knowledge. If your local pub has a quiz night, maybe you could have a word with the landlord/lady and ask if there is a team you could join, nothing impresses eligible male quiz players like a woman who knows her onions (or shallots). Just be careful to avoid the worst nerds. Good luck.
Go to some charity events...usually lots of singles there being dragged along by couples to boost the numbers....do some volunteer work for some of the organizations and check out the donors...
