Yes I do believe they can, if somebody has them you can be infected with them as well.

It's an infection, so maybe...but I reckon you'd have to stick your face in their poo or something.

Might be wrong though, I'm no expert.
I have heard that if a person is infected with them, that if they do not wash there hands properly and they handle food etc and you come into contact with it it can be spread that way, but I may be wrong, anybody know if this is fact ?
Yes.

A person infected with tapeworm should be scrupulous about washing hands and keep a towel for his/her own use only.

They should also wear close fitting underpants or briefs in bed, to prevent scratching during sleep.

I'm sure that was the 'in' way for ladies to loose weight in victorian times - by deliberately introducing a tape worm into their body!!!!!!!! Think I'll just try and count calories!! yuk skylight
ugh, reminds me of a documentary i saw 'parasites' where this bloke deliberately ate a cyst in a piece of beef to infect himself. im heaving while im typing - horrid.
