Can anyone explain to me why simply telling a man not to trail mud up the hallway sends them into child mode? Does it regress them to childhood and if so, what should i say instead whn i don't want to clean mud up off the carpet??!

Helsbels, The question i would like to ask you is, why clean his mess up, Women have fought for years for equal rights etc, this includes believe it or not household duties, He's only got a problem with it when he see's you moaning, I would be more concerned with what contribution he makes apart from working i assume ?

This is unless your agreeable to all the housework in which it becomes an irrelevant question.

ps, Give him the marigolds

well youi could try asking here

seriously its probably something in the way that the comment wwas framed or the surrounding circs. Mr Woofgang and I have known each other for nearly 40 years and we have learned to communicate across the pluto goofy divide (women are from pluto, men are from goofy)

Its sometimes an advantage to have a partner who is "mess blind" if you areas lazy a housekeeper as I am!!

Make him go to his room without any tea..and hide his trainset...!! that will teach the lazy blighter...(:)

If you really loved him you'd be willing to clean up after him whatever mess he made.

Am I being serious? NOOOOOOOO!

When you have an answer please let me know. I have tried many different ways of wording my requests. Telling, asking. It makes no difference. If it bothers you, you just have to clean it up. I seem to be doing it every day.

helsbels666 you have my utter sympathy! Laurence2 yes we fought for equal rights and that does mean chores are often shared (ha!) but many men just don't see it when they create mess. It's just one more chore for us isn't it? Drives me mad but I don't want to moan at him.

Actually, my 2 kids are now of the age they know not to make a mess, to tidy up etc, all part of bringing them up. I've recently discovered Mr Sunflower is the real culprit! I daren't ask him not to leave wet towels on the bed cos he would sulk at me! I am going to start writing on empty loo rolls, hanging folornly there, 'please change me I am empty.'

Going off subject slightly, but it's interesting to know that all these years and the arguments we have had are no different to anyone else. Men are not born like it surely so how do they learn to become very similar? Is it just being lazy or do the genuinely not see the mess?

Hello Sunflower/Maggie, It stems from years ago that, To use the phrase, men bring the bacon home etc, It was the done thing then that women stayed at home to have babys/do the house work, And depending on your upbringing certain men have continued this so- called tradition, My dad and one of my brothers are like this, But i must say they only get away with it because their wife's allow it.

Don't get me wrong theirs alot of women that are happy with this routine, i,ve one mate who gives his wife a weekly shopping allowance, to me thats like being a slave.

At the end of the day if your happy with the routine chores so be it, But women were put on this earth for more than household chores, and if your partners can't see or respect that, then their quite sad
