If the 2 men that have been charged with the murder and robbery of London lawyer Tom Pryce were given the death penalty ( wishful thinking ) could you carry it out ?

No problem...
no. I can't imagine ever taking someone's life, no matter what they did. That said, for some of the evil, heinous crimes that have been mentioned on here recently, I wouldn't lose sleep if someone else did the killing. Cowardly perhaps, but truthful. That said, I'm anti death penalty. Let them rot in jail for every single day of the rest of their miserable lives.
Wonder if a member of the victim's family should decide or carry out the punishment ?

I could carry out the punishment with a clear conscience if they killed a member of my family.

No, and I am convinced that people who glibly say 'Yes' have not really thought it through. If they found themselves ready to push the button, pull the leaver, or what ever, they might find it somewhat harder than they thought.

I personally do not possess the moral ground high enough to give me the right to take the life of another person - and I don't think anyone else really does either

I could in much the same way as I would get rid of a wasps nest or ants or rats in my garden. Vermin is vermin.

No! Killing a person who intends to kill me or mine is one thing, but killing a man on the orders of others, however justified and legal is a step beyond my capabilities.

no.

with absolute pleasure. I would even administer a bit of old fashioned torture first.
Slightly off-subject, but who will defend them in court? A lawyer?
I like to believe I would, being pro-capital punishment, because these people wouldn't be able then to re-offend, and the public at large would be that bit safer, of course, if push comes to shove, I and the ones of a like mind might not be able to do it, but i'd like to be given the chance.

I would not call those creatures men. But It would be my pleasure dear boy. Yes I have thought it through.
Ridding our country of such scum would be a pleasure

This story does my head in. People get murdered every day (well they do round here anyway) but just cos this fella was a posh, rich lawyer we get blanket coverage. It was the same a couple of weeks ago about the banker who was murdered. We got a blow by blow account of that trial. Likewise some hoorah henry was murdered in a car jacking in Chelsea last year and we didnt hear the end of it.
Its as though that because they are rich that they are somehow impervious to the s**t that us proles have to put up with day in day out.
I no less care about this fella being murdered than some young, black gang member round my way.
Its all bad - i just want some consistency.

Yes - the more pain inflicted the better for these scum.

Yes - said very glibly, andy-hughes!!!

not often this happens but im with Ward-Minter this time., dont even think about the argument that it costs more to execute them than to keep them inside for 70 odd years. How much does one piece of rope cost? and you can use it again and again and again and.......... you get the picture.

I was a soldier for over 20 years, people lost their lives ijn the 1st Gulf war and in Bosnia due to my actions, but, those lads were doing their job, so was I, and I dont regret anything, hanging scum like those 2 would be a pleasure, belive me!!!!!

a coservative 8 yes's to 15 no/dont know if I have the bottle. Lets talk about public opinion

Just a point on the cost of an execution, I appreciate everones viewpoint, but I couldn't care less about the cost, because in the long run, it'll be cheaper to execute,
pressed the wrong key,---- because theirs no chance of them being sent on rehab courses, let out earl, re-offending, which quite a few do, and if they do, then there's the further cost of investigations and trials.
No I wouldn't carry it out because I believe the death penalty to be wrong.I'm with Gary on the lack of consistancy regarding the victims of murder. If you are well heeled and upper middle class then it's a shocking crime, if you're a prostitute or a homeless person you probably won't even make the paper.A homeless person froze to death not far from where I live and since the only centre for homeless people in the area had lost some of it's funding and was full that night, I consider that as murder, but don't see any local councillors being wished dead.

Yes, Yes and Yes, but then having thought about it some more - Definitely Yes. Human society sometimes overcomplicates things. Dangerous dogs are put to sleep for their own good. Vets don't have sleepless nights aboout administering such things because they know if not - worse could happen. I would therefore treat dangerous humans in exactly the same manner. Not for revenge, in fact if a close family member had died it wouldn't matter to me whether the muderer was executed or not - it wouldn't bring them back, - but to prevent the remotest possibility of some other family having to go through the pain of their Innocent son being murdered.
