Won't be a good start to your new job!

what's more important to you?

Depends whether you are serious about keeping the job

That would be a feckless thing to do. Either commit to the job or find another one.

What ' upcoming things' do you have, abbey? Are they more important than keeping your job?

When I see your posts, Abbeylee, it reminds me of the song "Heartaches by the Number" though, in this case, I would substitute "problems by the number"😉  If you knew you had upcoming Saturday commitments, why didn't you say so at the interview and not include your availabilty for that day?

Abbey.  You seem to do this with most of your jobs.  Get a job and stick to the terms agreed.  At this rate you will become unemployable.

Well it's fine it's Saturday morning but not evening

Try, if you can for a moment, and put yourself (genuinely) in an employer's shoes, and think hard about whether you would employ someone like yourself.

Guess I panicked at the interview

Do you want to live at home for the foreseeable future or do you want some independence?

No, you haven't even started work yet!  Work a few weeks and see what sort of shifts, hours you get. Some people might want Saturday hours, others won't be so keen  - but you made yourself available, so it's not good to start changing things now. And you'll be working only 28 hours a week, so your social life shouldn't be disastrously affected.

And still a social life comes before working to pay for a social life! Talk about wrong priorities.

Leave it for now Abbey...stick with it. Being available doesn't mean you'll have to work on a Saturday. It might just happen occasionally as you are only doing 20 hours per week.

You worry about all the wrong things.

My mum don't seem to understand why I've taken this job but I haven't told her about loosing my hours and don't know how to

Abbey, your mum knows you like the care home job, so she must be baffled! You're not doing any more hours, getting any more money - so she must wonder why you're switching. Any mother, any person, would.

do whatever you want.  you will anyway

What upcoming commitments do you have on Saturdays?

Abbey, the reason your mum 'doesn't seem to understand' is because you're telling her only half the story!

She asked if they were given me a hard time by saying I'm not doing a good job I said no
