Good morning Birdies. I hope you are all well.

At least it's the middle of the week and now we can just countdown to the weekend. It's Father's Day this Sunday - any nice plans? I've asked OH umpteen times what he wants to do and I've yet to get a straight answer!

I hope your week is going well. Have a great day everyone.

Good morning Lady CG! Can’t sleep as it’s so humid again! We are having Mr Smows parents over for dinner this weekend for Fathers Day. His dad is only 70 so still a baby lol.
Good Morning LadyCG and birdies who follow: Have been awakened by the morning pigeon chorus .. usually don't hear them but restless and realise I have not changed Winter duvet to Summer one - hot, hot!
Have a nice day and just think up a wonderful surprise for your OH on Sunday.x

Hi Smow,

I actually managed to sleep okay for the most part. Thankfully OH got the big fan down from the attic. The bed raider came in for a while but in the end he kept tossing and turning (he's got a blocked up nose) so he had to go back into his own room.

My FIL is 69 and he had his last fraction of radiotherapy on Monday just gone so I would like to invite him over on Saturday night. I know he's going out with his other son on Sunday so we'll have to do something for Saturday instead - if I can just get a straight answer out of LordMG...!

How are your back problems now? x

Good morning, Hazlinny. We have some rather large and loud chirpers in our garden.

OH has got a couple of vinyl albums (Dodgy and Liam Gallagher) and I might get him some chocolates or some whisky but he won't be getting much as I agreed to pay for all the dental work he needs to have done as his birthday / Father's day present.

Any nice plans for today?
Morning Hazlinny x
LadyCG - not good, that’s why Ive not been on here - thought you were all sick of hearing the same old nonsense. Long story short - I cannot stand straight due to pain, cannot walk straight or more than 50 metres, cannot lie flat….. on constant painkillers and liaising with a pain management team…… surgery is only option but awaiting final decision from the bigwig consultant..it’s been pretty miserable shall we say xx

I'm sorry to hear that, Smo.

I finally got to see the Spinal Surgeon on Monday of last week. He showed me all the MRI images and explained my options but the clinical presentation and the MRI findings were somewhat at odds so he is going to request some nerve conduction studies to see if I have any entrapment at the wrist or elbow as well as that which can be seen at the level of C5/6 and C6/7. I'm getting the numbness and tingling on the ulnar aspect and now, since my appointment, I'm getting the same symptoms symmetrically on the contralateral side.

I'm sorry to hear that you are still plagued with symptoms. Losing your mobility at our age is no joke.
That's a gift to really get his teeth into!

Today I really should do some batch cooking as stocks getting low but it's already a bit hot to be stuck in the kitchen. Maybe a trip down to harbour to get fish?

Smow/do hope you eventually get a decision re the unbearable pain.x
Question Author
You are lucky if you live by a harbour - yes, I'd do just that and go and get some fresh fish. Yummy!

I live in the Midlands and we don't really have a decent Fishmonger anywhere close by so it's just the usual fish counter offerings at the local supermarket. I could kill for some halibut.
Kings College Hispital in London have assigned me a pain management team, whilst ai await the consultants decision, but it’s no fun when at the mo it’s brain numbing drugs, or spinal injections.
I want to be the smow of last year(or the year before) who did the yearly Race for Life, jogged/walked everywhere etc etc………..
Anyway, enough of my misery - I’ve got my son getting married in September!!
Indeed, nothing like fish straight off the boats. There is also a nice seafood snack-van where one can buy dishes of mixed seafood to take away.

Indeed, Hazlinny. I'm looking forward to our trip to Dorset and I can already taste the fresh whitebait. We had some in Weymouth last year and it was mouth-watering.

Smow, that's fantastic news. What a superb thing to look forward to. How are your little grandchildren doing? I seem to remember that two of them were due within a day or so of each other?
Ohhh to live by the sea…
Smow ... I always wanted to live near the sea and eventually my dream came true! x
LadyCG - yes, they were born the same week! The funny thing is that the son with red hair had a girl with brown hair, and the son with brown hair had a girl with red hair!

It's all in the genes, Smow!

Those girls will probably be very close growing up, being so close in age.

So is your son having the big, dream wedding or just a small affair?
He’s having quite a big wedding. They had to cancel it twice due to covid so are really excited about it.
Good morning, couldn’t sleep for the heat so got up , I like this time of the morning but please don’t get used to me being here then haha, I’m usually getting up around 7-45.
We had a lovely night out for OHs birthday, the meal was scrumptious, I had sirloin stroganoff, going to get some packing done today for our departure tomorrow.
Smo, sorry you’re having such a bad time my lovely x
Question Author
Oh gosh, so it's been a long time in the planning then, Smow? Let's hope everything goes swimmingly this time.

Good morning, Bobbi. I'm glad you all had a good time for his birthday. Sirloin stroganoff sounds delicious - I don't think I've made a stroganoff for a good while. OH is quite a fan so I might cook one up shortly.
Bless you Bobbi - you know where I am if u ever want chat. Right, I’m going to be brave and attempt another hour in bed as I have a busy day. Don’t hold out much hope but wish me luck!! x
