In a 5.30 press conference, Lancashire police have confirmed that the body pulled from the River Wyre yesterday, is that of missing Nicola Bulley.
A female police officer read out a statement on behalf of the family in which both ITV and Sky News were lambasted for directly contacting the family last night after news of the body had been released.

So very sad. She looks a beautiful soul.
Very sad but,why take your dog if you are contemplating Suicide? If that's what it was,of course.
DickieHart, first of all we don't know for sure that she committed suicide, but if she did, she probably didn't know she was going to do it until she was on her walk otherwise, I'm sure she wouldn't have taken the dog with her.

She certainly wouldn't have been texting her friends and making plans.
Strange too - she was in the middle of a telephone conference call....
Ken, as I said before, we don't know if she did commit suicide yet and if she did, we don't know what went through her mind minutes before she did it. Not all suicides are planned.
Her poor little girls, they will miss their Mummy so much. So tragic.
Very sad, but at least the family have the first question answered now.

RIP Nicola.
Yes R.I.P Nicola, and as fitdarren said, poor little girls.

Barsel, my post was in response to Dickiehart's, not yours. I understood fully what you were saying.
Tragic though it is, i believe it is the lesser of two evils. Had she never been found, the family would have spent the rest of their lives wondering. At least they can now lay to rest the poor woman.
Apologies Ken.
Question Author
Not seen or read anything yet...but who introduced the possibility that it was suicide?
Or is that one of the many rumours flying around?
If this was a suicide, would someone who could swim, (which I believe, Nicola could) jump into water, surely the instinct to swim would kick in.
fruitsalad, don't forget she was wearing a lot of clothes and the water would have been freezing cold.
Question Author
I have two cousins who committed suicide, one by drowning and he was a very good swimmer, apparently. She may have been unconscious when she went in? We'll find out soon enough.
This is a strange affair altogether, what I don't understand now is how a dog walker can find the body and all the recourses of police and other specialist couldn't find it. Still seems strange!
The family of Nicola are really unhappy that some of the media and also Social Media have been speculating what happened to her, and here you all are..still speculating. It’s really not helpful to the family who may see all this.

Is there any need for yet more speculation?
