It looks as if no thought has been given to the farmers who will suffer, as if they're not having a hard enough life already.
These activists are a curse, and the way they go about delivering their message is not acceptable ….. but they do have a point. We will need to be plant based if we are to feed our populations and reduce climate change.
I have just looked at an 'ethical vegan superstore' selling vegan milk produced in the UK. One of the 'milks' advertised is made from coconut.
Don't know whether to laugh or cry.
I dare say buggy whip makers had a hard time when cars were introduced; but sometimes people, and trades, just fall foul of progress.
I often think of those poor joiners that made telephone tables.
My daughter has been vegan for many years and doesn't want the world to go vegan.
She fosters abandoned Akitas and similar and of course feeds them meat; very young puppies are fed on a specially enriched cows' milk diet. She realises meat and milk would be hugely expensive if cows, pigs, sheep and poultry were only bred to feed carnivore pets.
About 10 mins ago (on facebook) there was an article about a Vegan restaurant that was going to start selling meat-based meals due to rising costs. I'm now annoyed that I merely glanced at it and did not take note and so cannot verify this. Interesting, if true, however.
If God did not want us to eat animals,
Then he wouldn't have made them out of food!...
Haaaa! Best answer for nailit! :o)
According to Capitalism is Freedom, it takes 1.1 gallons of water to produce a single almond, or about which would translate to about 460 gallons of water per pound of almonds. In turn, it takes about two pounds of almonds to make one gallon of Almond Milk, or 920 gallons of water. Considering that California is in the midst of the worst drought in the last century, one might consider this water usage a danger to the environment. Indeed, California’s annual almond crop requires some 966 billion gallons of water, which the State doesn’t have. Then, you can add the pesticides that contaminate the soil and water, and one can see that Almond Milk’s cost to the environment is high.
vegan meals. that's not food, it's what food eats.......
//We will need to be plant based if we are to feed our populations and reduce climate change.//

No we don't. We cannot sustain the global population on plants. (The argument is too involved to go into here). But more important than that, many people have no wish to live on plants and doing so is not particularly good for you.
NJ;
"We cannot sustain the global population on plants. (The argument is too involved to go into here)."
I cna't really accept your assertion withouut some supporting evidence. If you have something not too difficult to cite, then I'd appreciate a glimpse.
Humans can undoubtedly survive on vegetarian diets (as could dinosaurs and Hitler and can cows and fighting bulls) so I don't see why the whole planet couldn't do the same if it became a matter of human survival.
Yeah, but it's not.
Douglas; maybe not at the moment, but it could become that way. Even if it did, the rich and the meat loving would always manage to get round the common-good argument without destroying the human race.
You cant blame the vegans...low levels of Iron,Zinc, complex B vitamins and Intelligence will produce your advanced moron.
You don't really want to start a 'could' list, do you?

It's the R.S.P.C.A. they should be addressing. You wouldn't keep your dog tied up in a kennel for all of its life but some animals e.g. cows, pigs, chickens are kept in dark, dismal conditions ,never to see the light of day ever until the day they are dragged off to the abattoirs. How anyone can even think this is acceptable in what is supposed to be an animal loving country is beyond me. It's cruel, evil and despicable . Animals deserve better.
Andres; yes, but many human meat lovers don't see that. They only care about cuddly big-eyed creatures. Of course there are others who are familiar with farm animals and think that it is all part of nature's way. I don't agree with them, and I'm not sure that I prefer the honesty of someone who knows what's involved but continues to support the system.
We cannot change the climate whatever steps we take, it's a ridiculous notion.
Atheist^^^I did not say that I supported the actions of the vegan rioters .I was merely pointing out the conditions that some of the animals have to endure. I was brought up on a farm and none of our animals were ever treated like this.
