How do I get in touch with former National Service personnel who served in REME at Ashchurch 1954 onwards?

Royal British Legion/ex-servicemen's clubs, or Public Records Office in Kew, London.

Army Personnel Centre

The APC is probably the best options as it carries a number of hyperlinks and contact info within the website.

Or you can just contact your local Royal British Legion who will be more than happy to help.

Also another option would be to contact the REME museum in Arborfield who will hold some records from around that time period on 0118 976 3375.
The museum also makes for an interesting outing and is quite close to Reading.
Best of luck in your research though
