Yes I saw that Bobbi -15 cases in an area that must have hundreds of thousands of residents - and 15 cases not deaths. I think the government is reacting well over the top to be honest.

It's very alarmist APG, it's because there's more people being tested , it's a knee jerk reaction
Yes the government should not be making hasty decisions from London in your area IMO. I hope they won’t.

I think it's up to the local authorities now ich :0)
I hope so.
It's about time this govt gave up on lockdowns and brought this country out of it and back to normal. We're going to have to live with it. Simples.

It is what it is , that's the way I look at it
"South Tyneside has been hit by one of the highest numbers of new coronavirus cases in the country over the last week.

A total of 62 new people were diagnosed with Covid-19 in the borough over the week leading up to August 29.

It puts the infection rate in the area at 41.1 per 100,000 - up from 11.9 per 100,000.

In Pendle, the worst affected part of England, 66 new cases were recorded in the seven days to August 29 - but this was at a much higher infection rate across the population, the equivalent of 71.7 per 100,000 people."

The Scottish gov. have issued an odd one for Glasgow, West Dunbartonshire and East Renfrewshire.
You can't meet up with another household in their house, but you can meet them in a cafe or restaurant.
Apparently it's different due to the different source of the outbreak from the Aberdeen outbreak.

Is there anybody left in any form of government who knows what the rules/guidance is for anywhere?
Oxford is on Amber alert- I don't know the rate of infections but we may go into some sort of lockdown soon if the rate keeps on increasing.

They expected a spike in infections Rosie, looks like they got it
Oh dear - I was hoping my loved one was going to visit - maybe we'll have to re think.

We had plans to celebrate my sister in laws 82nd in style but you know what they say , The best laid plans of mice and men :0/
So, 41 per 100k in South Tyneside, 71 per 100k in Pendle. The government's criterion for imposing quarantine requirements on travellers returning from abroad is 20 cases per 100k. So, should those returning from those two areas be subject to quarantine? If not, why not?
^ Exactly - and no doubt Bobbi those in your area caught it on a plane haha
41 per 100,000 - so 0.041%.

Tiny.
Why are governmens cowering in fear of this virus? By not letting business get back on their feet is going to be worse long term.
^^^ Because people are power mad and lacking leadership.
Apg, on the news last night one area of Greater Manchester showed a rise in cases from single figures to 45 and in another to 36.How is the Government overreacting?
danny // Apg, on the news last night one area of Greater Manchester showed a rise in cases from single figures to 45 and in another to 36.How is the Government overreacting?//

a) they are cases not deaths
b) there are 2.4 MILLION people live in the greater Manchester area, and with 45 new cases the possibility of anyone catching the virus is 1 in over 500,000 ( 0.005%)
c) Factor into the above that once you've caught it the possibility of you dying from it is something like 0.08%

The above figures, to me anyway, are not 'worrying' and the Government are over-reacting.
