My friend was given a bowl with some bulbs planted in it. They did nothing so the lot went into the shed. Long, long time later....clearing the shed she was banging the bowl on the side of the compost bin to clear out the old, solid soil and long dead bulbs....

Guess what name she spotted on the bottom of the bowl?.... :-)

I don't, Tilly.....but I will ask when I next see her...x
She's a lucky spud. Ask her if she wants to sell it...:-)
clarice cliff doesn't make as good sums these days.. :0(
I wouldn't sell mine, Minty. I love it.
I won't say what I have just discovered in the bin under the hall desk...but it relates to compost, solid soil and not-so-long dead bulbs......phewey, the things we gave to put up with,
I LOVE Clarice Cliff, beautiful x
Celtic harvest possibly?
I know mum had a jug from the Celtic Harvest collection .. 1930s I think.

I will ask now that I'm intrigued....and also if she chipped it whacking it on the bin....x
Ooh hopefully not, regardless of what it's worth, it has history. I love old things x
Because CC has been covered so much on flog it etc loads of it has come onto the market, bringing prices down, the same applies to Moorcroft, troika, Susie Cooper, and Poole. Ruskin is still doing well, as are pieces designed by Christopher Dresser. Probably a better idea to look out for early Scandinavian art pottery, as I suspect that will continue to grow in popularity.
cc was in woolies in the beginning !
Clarice Cliff.

//Between 1928 and 1936 she evolved a new range called Fantasque which featured cottages and trees, and then many Art Deco inspired patterns. These have proven particularly collectible nowadays. Through the depths of the Depression her wares continued to sell in volume at what were high prices for the time. Her Bizarre and Fantasque ware was sold throughout the world, North America, Australia, New Zealand, South Africa, but not in mainland Europe. In Britain many top London stores sold it, including Harrods, but never Woolworths as some have stated.//

Just buy what you like, unless you are looking for an investment piece.
