I gave up yesterday evening. I typed a few words, it froze. Had to refresh, it all disappeared. Start again...' this site is having a problem loading' after 6 or 7 tries. Computer on all evening, I gave up after hitting it firmly ((1-yr-old laptop). So hard and frustrating when you work out what you want to say and simply can't say it.

I too wouldn't go as far as to say it's now rubbish. It was never great, but like most website overhauls it looks worse now than it did before. I'm not sure I can think of many website changes where I've ended up thinking it looks and works a lot better and this one is no exception. In terms of your problems with typing, I agree with wolf63 that it's more likely your device that's the problem. I only ever use this site on a PC and don't have any typing problems.
I have trouble with AB on my Hudl tablet. The problems are numerous - locking up, etc. It's OK on my computer. But the old AB was so much better where all the categories were shown and I get fed up with continuous scrolling. I get no problems on the tablet with other sites. The old AB was so user friendly and much more professional looking, in my opinion. I feel sure that new users would miss the fact that there are more categories.
I agree with AOG......it isn't the same site.
The new format has not made an improvement and one can make an argument that the change has been a retrograde step.
It is just CB, News and Crosswords........all the other specialist groups are underposted, either by less ABers or less posting by remaining ABers.
It is not "rubbish" but is well on the way.
What can be done about it? Less moderation and let arguments continue even if it upsets some ABers.

I have have no issue with the update; everything works as well as it ever has.
But there has definitely been an upswing in my 'eye-rolling'; too many threads devolve into a few of the more single-minded ABers bludgeoning and brow-beating other contributors and diverting threads towards their own particular agenda. It's exhausting and not much fun to read....
