A couple of limericks about Möbius bands: (I have changed the wording of the first, since I cannot accept that "half" rhymes with "laugh") A mathematician confided That a Möbius band is one-sided. It presents quite a riddle When it's cut down the middle: It remains on one piece, undivided. Although it appears somewhat kinked, A Möbius band is distinct....

I thought it was a möbius loop. Anyway, I'm popping off to look for my sense of humour ;-)
My apologies, möbius strip is quite acceptable. I must spend less time in News.
LOL Bit deep for this time of a Sunday morning JJ

sorry x
JJ, why did the Seagull cross the road?
Oh Jay Jay !

what a load of dumbheads who havent had their morning sweet coffee !

dont apologise !

I was gonna say " one way traffic only huh ? " but unfortunately there ARE two ways that a chicken could go. ... damn !

Mobius strip is quite acceptable as eny fule kno

Mobius by the way was the first to use modern ( ie invented ) vector notation.. using bold type or underlining. around 1860 I think
so that Nina could wring its neck ?

sorry that was an unfunny reference to Checkov's Seagull [ Chaika in Russian ]- a comedy of 1890 or so
Oh J J I am upset you feel obliged to apologise in the Jokes section

by the way - why did the seagull ......
CheckHov. 1895.

A mathematician confided
That a Möbius band is one-sided.
It presents quite a riddle
When it's cut down the middle:
It remains on one piece, undivided.

Although it appears somewhat kinked,
A Möbius band is distinct.
You'll be lost for words
If you cut it in thirds:
You end up with two bands, interlinked.

Of course "half" and "laugh" rhyme!

Still not sure about the seagull, though.

But I like the Chekov reference.
...because it had just been to Falmer stadium and was hoping a bus was coming.
Not if you come from North of a poorly specified point :-)
Yeah I think harf and larf rhyme ?
but poesy is not my strong point

Seagull there was a good revival in London er in English in 1975

very good limericks thx
Only when spelled HARFF and LARFF
Question Author
Zacs ...

Very good. Except ...

The buses from the stadium pick up in the top car park, on the same side of the road as the stadium itself.

But a convenient "same side" reference, given the Möbius theme.
JJ
You'll be telling us next that "glass" rhymes with "farce"
I knew that, I knew that!
i know i'm a bit thick i've looked mobius strip up and still dont get it .lol
A möbius strip only has one surface so you can't cross it. Well, that's the pretext of the joke but, whilst it has only one surface it does have two edges so, in theory, it would actually be possible to cross it from one edge to the other.
