Can kids eat bolognaise sauce cooked with red wine?

This might sounds like a stupid question but can children eat foods cooked with alcohol? For example bolognaise sauce cooked with red wine?

I dont see wht not - as long as the child isnt really young though,..... we have always brought our 2children up to have a little wine with us when we drink it (watered down when they were younger). When you cook, i would imagine a lot of the alcohol will diminish anyway.....

I also don't see why they can't be given small portions.  The alcohol in the wine would burn off in the cooking but the sauce might be a little rich if they're very small.

Think it's good to let them have a varied diet and share in what the grown-ups are eating.

Mine would eat it no problem (like Louisebabe we have always been happy to let them have some wine). Now they're a bit older they love coq au vin.

I agree, His Little Lordship enjoys a very small amount of wine sometimes with dinner and as it's just the two of us if I cook with alcohol he has to eat it!! Anyway, as the others have said, the alcohol burns off very quickly

My hubby adds a little red wine when im cooking Spag Bolg.........he says it "brings out the flavour". Dont worry, its not as if you are plying them with drink......

No problem - if they are good eaters they should enjoy it and as said the alcohol is all gone in cooking.

There is no reason why not. It is not illegal, and any alcohol will have evaporated during cooking.

as someone said, the alcohol will largely be lost during the cooking process - if it's not cooked for long enough the alcohol will remain and be rather harsh.  our wee guy (who's nearly two) eats exactly what we eat and loves spag bol with good splosh of red in it.
