I have just shortened a pair of trousers using wonder web. Just admiring my handiwork I realise I have done it the wron way round. The hem is on the outside!!!! How can I remove the marks from the wonder web.
I am notorious for this kind of thing. I once shortened a pair of brand new trousers , put them on and discovered I had shortened one leg twice, they went in the bin.
But seriously is there anything I can do?

Crikey Caran, I shouldn't laugh. Anyway you could try re-ironing but with a very wet cloth so the sticky stuff becomes soft and can be rubbed off with a rough sponge. keep doing it. If the fabric can take it nail varnish remover or white spirit might get off any stubborn bits.

Thanks Prudie, I may have another solution. They were rather long, I might get away with cutting it off, doing the same thing again, shortening twice! Going to measure and see.

Just tried the wet cloth idea, after sticking it to ironing board cover most of it has come off, so that was a good idea, thanks Prudie.

Just redone it on correct side. Only problem is the residue glued the trouser leg together at the hem!!!
Will have to try white spirit but a bit reluctant. Once bought a bottle of nail polish remover, it had a leaky top, leaked all over my dress, the dress vanished all down the front, the remover ate it up. These trousers are jersey so may be different.
As you see things happen to me!!
Well almost there! Can't you just tease it apart?
Question Author
Have done that, not too bad as they are a cream colour. Will check out white spirit on the bits I have cut off when OH comes home from the match and finds me some.
Next time you need trousers shortening, Caran. Take them to a dressmakers. ;-)
It's simple, just turn them inside out.

I know I just got confused,
If you hadn't fixed it, I'd say get some nice braid and make a feature of the turnup :-)
