I have bought some venison sausages and thought I'd make a casserole. What shall I use in the casserole vegetable wise? The usual root veggies might not do the venison justice.
Any suggestions?

Celeriac, squash and parsnips all go well with venison x
Question Author
Thank you, v&c.
Carrots also won't do the meat an injustice. Venison is a very strong tasting meat although it is deer.

Thank you too, dizmo. I have carrots and parsnips. Mr. Tilly doesn't like celeriac so I won't be using that. As these are sausages, I don't expect them to taste too strong.
All that effort for my joke and it was missed :P
Question Author
Yes, diz. It is expensive!
You could go the alternative tomato/courgette/onion route - possibly with a bit of chilli too - I've done venison sausages that way & they are lovely.

Right, Dave, a sort of ratatouille type sauce?
Exactly so :+)
mmm yes , I revently had some venison meatballs and did them with a sauce like that, absolutely delicious!
Question Author
I like that idea. I make a nice ratatouille. Thank you very much. I'll try it with some chilli.
