Why should this odious person be allowed to spout his offensive and threatening rhetoric before the United Nations General Assembly?

I believe it's called "freedom of speech".
Because of free speech.

Same is happening in Russia right now. Russian politicians are claiming that gay couples adopt children specifically to rape them.

I'm afraid that there are straight people all over the globe ready to spout offensive rubbish about gay people. It's going to take years, probably decades to educate them.

Glad to see you standing up for gay people around the world.
You cannot ban someone for being odious though.

Unless he is actually plotting to murder gays, and I couldn't see it there but stand to be corrected, then I'm afraid he is entitled to his opinion. He does probably speak out for quite a number of Religious people actually.
I guess it's better the world knows about this fellas rather disturbing take on things as then it can't be swept under the carpet and we're aware of how dangerous it is to be gay/lesbian in Gambia. Also how dangerous it is to have HIV if this chap believes he can cure it.

His mindset is as repulsive as it is disturbing.

Ah yes "Freedom of Speech" isn't that what those opposing gay marriages were given the privilege of?
yes, they were, and they used it.
They were indeed AOG. Better that we know of this man's opinions than that he be silenced.
Erm... yes? It's perfectly ok to oppose gay marriage and say you're against it and why - it obviously isn't going to stop it but you can still say/think it.
Exactly China Doll.

Well said.

It's very easy for us in the UK to think that everyone is as progressive as us - we have had out gay Olympians, cabinet ministers, tv presenters, business leaders, musicians, actors etc...but if you were to go to the UN and take a straw poll of attitudes around the world...there's A LOT of hatred for gay people.

There are a number of leaders and politicians around the world who would echo the Gambian president's sentiments.

"Ah yes "Freedom of Speech" isn't that what those opposing gay marriages were given the privilege of?"

Sorry - are you saying that those who opposed gay marriage were not allowed to make their feelings known?

This thread looks like it will break the record for the quickest to swerve from the original question to something quite different.

Looking forward to seeing the final destination.
Gay people in Gambia shouldn't have to live their lives under such an oppressive leader. We should offer any of them who want asylum a safe place here where they could enjoy a safer and more congenial life

Been reading the Pinknews again?

This has been dismissed as Bul*S*i*t and propaganda.

*** His study widely denounced, even Regnerus has said his study has been misunderstood, and this week he specifically objected to a Russian legislator for citing it as justification for a proposed law to remove children from gay parents’ households. ***

No, you're not correct. Russian lawmakers are using the study to accuse gay parents of adopting children to rape them. I'm not saying that this is what the study says:

If you are being serious and not sarcastic, how many are you personally prepared to house and support?

This country needs more accommodating persons such as yourself, so as to take some of the load off the other taxpayers.
sandyRoe

You're being very bad.

You should be given 100 lines for that.
Oh and AOG - do you see my point about the Russian lawmakers?

The story is certainly not bull.

It's happening.

You are not at school now, even if you act as if you are, but it is now time that you realised that you are not.
