This has bugged me for years! In his 1974 hit "I get a kick out of you"'from his album "Dingo,"what are the adlibs he sings at the end of the song?

Not sure if this is actually right, but a few years back when Bruno Brookes (remember him?) was on Radio 1, he had a "Twisted Lyrics" feature where he played parts of songs where the lyrics sounded odd. One song he played was Gary Shearston's, and the adlibs sounded for all the world like "crispy onion rings and chips".

Thing is, while many of these "Twisted Lyrics" required some degree of imagination at best, in this case I really couldn't work out what else he could have been singing, so perhaps these particular lyrics weren't so twisted after all.

Thanks littleoldme, thats what it always sounded like to me as well! Especially the crispy onion rings bit! Everytime I hear it I try to work it out again, but it never sounds remotely like anything else! Well I suppose if  radio 1 d.j.can't come up with anything else,we'll take it that crispy onion rings and chips it is!
It's...

Thank you soo much Mark! That's another of life's mysteries answered for me! In case littleoldme sees this, here's the linkhttp://www.poparchives.com.au/feature.php?id=1 387
That whole question & answer was fascinating. I downloaded the song, then connected to the link & it is quite incredible. It sounds exactly like crispy onion rings & chips. But once you know what the words actually are, you can hear it.

My sisters friend used to think that Andy Fairweatherlow was singing 'my diamond necklace', when it was actually 'wide eyed & legless'.

It takes all sorts!

Glad that got your new year off to an interesting start gaysi !
It's amazing what you can find out on this site ;-)
Wow! Just happened on this while browsing some old posts (I never claimed to have a life). Fascinating to find out the answer at last, if a little disappointing that it really isn't crispy onion rings and chips.

Seven posts on this question in three and a half years? Now that's a slow burner. ;-)
I love that song. They don't make 'em like they used to any more!
