At the bank today I obtained a mini statement and found £25 had been taken by a company I have never heard of. I was in hospital on the day in question and my debit card was in my possession at all times. When I queried it with the bank today their suggestions were:
1. I am obviously forgetful. Did I remember leaving my hospital bed, getting dressed, nipping into town and shopping in a store whose name I have never heard of for an item I have forgotten all about?
2. I am married to a thief. They asked if I'd had visitors and when I said only my husband, the bank woman sat back, nodded knowingly and said "Well that could be your answer."
Grrrrrrr!

I'm going back tomorrow and taking Mr O with me. I wasn't feeling well when I went today and ended up on the verge of tears, getting nowhere with them
I would've asked to see their superior. What a condescending, rude person!
Where is the mrs_o who put the poop scoop stuff on the car door handles? ;)

Better luck tomorrow - you will be over the shock of it and ready to do battle - or mine isn't the sexiest av on AB!
Since you are having to make an additional trip into town to sort it out, demand compensation!

At your service mrs_o

'tis a hot av, innit
I had a friend who had taken out of her bank account and she stormed around to the bank ready to do battle . . .

Alas it was a payment that had been legit and only showed that particular date - can't remember why.

and the payment was showing as being payable to a 'mother' company and its name bore no resemblance to the name of the retailer that she used.

Have you checked this out, rechecked and checked again?

;-)
Why make a special trip?

Ring up and tell them to get it sorted.
Question Author
Its not a special trip - I just prefer to try and sort it in person locally rather than deal with someone in Mumbai over the phone

Wolf, I never left my hospital bed all day. There is no need to check or double check
DEBIt card transactions don't show on the statement the same day the are made (at least they don't on mine) - there is usually a lag of 2 days
Quite so. You will make their day, the 2 of you - determined to not leave the premises until satisfied. Wishing I lived your way - would be great to stand behind you in the queue - une dame formidable :)
