Have just been to Tesco's and purchsed 3 x 4 Pint milk cost £4.47
For some months now I have only paid £3 eaxh week I have been.
I did not notice the increase till I got home. I will have to check next
week to see if this correct, or is this the way they are discounting
other items

I have also read that from MONDAY they are cost cutting across all store items BUT in the small print (so to speak) I have read that instead of giving double points on your bill total they are going back to single points. Is this correct? If so, what a con! Give with one hand and take back with the other!
Don't forget there is a £5 off voucher in the Mail on Sunday and in Mondays Daily Mail if you spend £40 or more in Tescos on Monday. Hubby and I take a voucher each, use two trolleys making sure the items are over £40 in each, then pay at separate checkouts - £10 saved!
After about 20 years of online shopping with Tesco I've just switched to Waitrose..............half of the Tesco 'offers' are a con, Waitrose food is much nicer, and delivery is free compared to an average of £5 with Tesco.
Thats ok Craft if you have a Waitrose near you - they are miles away from us...

Anne 86 I don't spend enough to qualify for this discount as I shop
around for bargains. I don't think I would save very much if
they keep putting prices up like this
I agree ironmonger thats a lot to pay for milk. Even our little Asian "open all hours" shop near us only charges £1.09 for 4 pints....
In Iceland and Aldi milk is £1 for 4 pints.
89p in Lidl-milk that is.
Tesco have had an offer on the 4 pint milk (Three 4 pints bottles for £3). The offer has now ended, thats why it cost you £4.47 this week. I only know this because I buy the 4 pint one with my online shopping and it always tells me I am missing out on the deal at the end when I go to checkout :o)
Tesco have a massive sale on here. My mate got a microwave for £12....and loads of other stuff. Wish I wasn't so busy :-)
Tesco have recently increased the price of a single pint of milk from 46p to 49p. That's the first increase for several years and comes at the same time as other stores are increasing their prices (e.g. from 49p to 51p in the Co-op). It's partly due to new agreements between wholesalers and farmers, increasing the price which they're paid for a litre of milk by between 1p and 2p.

While nobody likes higher prices, that seems reasonable enough to me.
Wow, that is expensive. Have you considered purchasing your own cow? This would make the milk cheaper.
In the local corner shop one pint of milk is 50p so I suppose Tesco is still cheaper than that. Ann I get my groceries online with Tesco and have always avoided Waitrose as one of the dearer supermarkets. Do their prices compare with Tesco's?
Ann, how exactly is that a con? They're lowering their prices and you're still not happy because you might lose some precious points. You're still getting some extra. They don't have to give points at all if they don't want to.
To find out what all the supermarkets are charging have a look on here. Click on any item and you can see what Tesco/Asda/Ocado/Sainsburys are charging. If you online shop using this link, say choosing Tesco at the top of the page, then as you add items you will see the total price clocking up above the names of the other supermarkets and you can just click on Asda say, if they are cheaper, and continue shopping with them. It'sa brilliant link.

I shop online at Waitrose now, they have an essential range if money is tight, their food is nicer and you only need to spend £50 for free delivery as craft says.
Oooh that's a good link Ladyb, thanks for posting.

Has anybody had a ****** look?
Well I didn't actually ask about the price of milk, just posted on this thread to let ironmonger know why the price of milk at Tesco seemed to suddenly shoot up!

I have had a look and it is a good link ladybirder, thank you. I have saved it to favourites.
Well it was worth posting then wingnut. Pleased you've saved it as it's a very good site. If I want cat food for instance, a quick look will tell me who's got an offer on and I will then buy a couple of months' worth. Thank you.
Great site ladybirder - I wish it had Morrisons on it too, though!
I agree, maybe it's a regional thing. Morrisons is a northern company isn't it. Perhaps this is southern based. I don't know how far south Morrisons come.
