I know it's possible for friends to synchronise & get their periods around the same time, but is there any explination for why I get period pains when my friend is due on?? (& it's still two weeks til I am!)  x

i live with my mum, so we ar very close, and we are normally due the same time. it depends how close you are to your friend.  also i dont normally get pains when i'm on, but when i am on and my mum isn't she sometimes says she has my pains,

Some women have pain in the middle of their cycle - think it's called mittelschmertz (sp?) at the time of ovulation. However, if these pains are really bad fairy you should see your GP about them.

Robinia is right. Mittelschmertz is pain mid cycle.

You don't say how old you are, but if it's only a couple of years or so since you started your periods it may well go away on its own once your cycle settles down.

In most cases it's harmless but inconvenient. More serious cases are usually treated with hormones, e.g. a low dose pill to see if regulating hormone levels eases the pain.

It's more common than people realise, but if you are at all worried see your GP and/or ask him or her to refer you to a gynaecologist.

I'm a bloke and I've had sympathy pains sometimes when I've dated some girls, weird yes, perhaps I'm just an empath or something....
