Any one else think this is a good idea or would you prefer to continue with the current situation Summer time 1 Hour ahead.
Personally I would prefer to stick to GMT all year round.
If memory serves me correctly I think moving the Clocks started during the last War.

I heard about this too. What a stupid idea. Just leave the clocks as they are.
Dont fix what aint broke, in my opinion.

1st world war.
Yes, wasn't it to give farmers more light or something?

OK Chuck I stand corrected, before my time thankfully !! ;-))
I'd much much rather lighter til later in the summer! I remember when I worked in the bar, leaving at about 3am and it was getting light! There's no need for that so if we can cut it out and plonk it at the end of the day then that's much better!!

I think this Govt has far more important issues to deal with other than meddling with the Clocks, if it aint broke don't fix it !
Dont fix what aint broke

Can't see the point in messing.Just leave well alone!
I wasn't questioning your opinion. Just telling you that for some people it is broke.
Daylight at 10.00 pm. was great in the summer when I was a boy. It meant that I could play out with my Dad when he came home from work.
so picture a late August evening sat in the beer garden, it's getting to about 10pm and, instead of it starting to get a bit chilly as it gets dark, its still light and warm!
Just 'cus it's not broke, doesn't mean it can't be improved!
This one really splits people

Last trial was upset by the Scots but there's no reason they couldn't keep their own time.

I think England should do a trial and see what it's like
And another thing under current system I get woken at 4.30 am. in the summer by the bloody birds singing.

There are obvious benefits in having more daylight in the evenings by moving clocks forward but geographically we are on GMT

If I've understood it correctly, they won't be altering the time in summer - they will be moving the clocks on one hour the first Spring, another hour in Autumn and then back one in Spring - so it will only affect the winter time and will not get light up here untill around 10 in the morning in the middle of winter. They are saying it's to boost tourism, but most tourists come in the summer. I don't think it is worth the safety risks (kids walking to school in pitch darkness) so that the occasional tourist can get a bit of a longer day.
