A tree near where I live (in SW London) has a flock of about 80-100 roosting in it.
According to the RSPB website, that is the entire quota of winter visiting individuals
for the UK.
That's got to be something quite special !
I'm glad I got a few photos:

Fantastic! You are lucky.
More illegal immigrants - just what we need!

for a normal winter maybe but this is a waxwing irruption year and there are thousands of the little treasures...saying that I keep missing them.....exact location please....
Answerprancer - I`m in SW London too. Have you seen any fieldfares or redwings yet? Last year when we had the really bad snow they were annihilating the berries in the garden. I haven`t seen them here yet this winter. Those noisy parakeets are still thriving though!
Found a mummified male waxwing on the floor of my little-used spare bedroom the other day. Must have fallen down the chimney - no other way in, and no way out. I felt real sadness for it - it really was the most stunningly beatiful little bird.
Answerprancer You, lucky, lucky b*gger.

I saw a mixed flock of Redwing/Fieldfare in Hmpshire this afternoon 237SJ, have seen lots over the past couple of weeks.
Wow!! How lucky are you or what? I have spent ages chasing sightings of these but alas none as yet!!
