It seems to be a regular thing and is very sad that they don't have respect for the charity cause.

In this day and age the collection boxes should be better designed to prevent this.

This is a more secure way of giving and they also reclaim 28% tax on every donation from a UK taxpayer

It is more secure but these collection tins are great for jogging the memory about whatever cause it's collecting for and also they make quite a bit as people are handed plenty of change so in it goes.
A mate of mine used to be a manager in a co-op type store. He and his staff all had ties to the military. Around this time of year they would get extra change from the bank prior to each shift. When somebody bought something, they would always give the customer as much loose change as possible (ie £1.50 change, instead of a £1 and 50p, they would give it all in 20p's and 10p's). Thus the customer was much more likely to ditch the change in the RBL box.

As much as I support the RBL, stealing from this cause is no different to stealing from any other. Anyone who deliberately targets those in need should, in punishment, be fed to rabid wolverines!!!
After stealing a poppy can, he was probably high on opium......
