Is it now acceptable for people who post news items that some disagree with to be classed as mentally ill. I thought the Ed was to doing an excellent job of cleaning ths site up till i read this post.

Zeuhl
Because he is clearly mentally ill.

I feel rather sorry for him.

Are the people who have mental health problems in our society not to have a voice. Are we to go back to the old days when people would be locked away in a small room never to be seen again.

if you feel bad about a post, report it.
PS are you hinting that the person referred to really is mentally ill but should be allowed on AB nonetheless? I think that's a very fair stance.

If he/she has mental health problems he/she should still be allowed to post so long as he/she does not break any Site Rules.

It is a wicked thing to mock the afflicted.
You really shouldn't jump to assumptions unless you are simply being 'trollish'

My reference to mental illness was not due to disagreeing with another's point of view - it was based on another poster's behaviour: repeated posting on the same subject to the point of obsession or fixation.

My expression of sympathy for them was also sincere.

I would be the last person to deny R Soul a voice even when mental illness is a factor

having not read the original, i can only assume that the poster made that remark as an insult, rather than genuinely believing that particular person was mentally ill.

I think people like you Zeuhl are stuck in the Dark Ages. The days of locking people away from the rest of society are long gone i am glad to say.

Great to see things being kept in proportion.................
this is the thread on which that posting was made http://www.theanswerb...s/Question953762.html
where did Zeuhl suggest locking anyone away?
Slark

One of my friends is on the Board of Mind. They are an excellent organisation but I don't think they could help you as they don't encourage Trolls

Zeuhl is that your insult for me for today
I wonder if Slark is also R Soul?

Anyone who has followed his anti-BBC rantings over the years will need counselling by now anyway.

:-)

I have reported this person to the Ed and shall post no more on this topic.
Good for you

I wonder what the Ed could find offensive in any of my postings other than a genuine concern over another AB-er and the asking of reasonable questions when suspicious of troll-like behaviour.

I think some people might construe your baseless accusations that I am prejudiced against mentally ill people rather offensive in themselves.

But I thank you for your comments anyway.

Have a pleasant evening

I don't think anyone got the wrong idea Zeuhl - except slark. Blimey, we'll all be frightened to breath soon for fear of someone reading into it something that isn't there!!

<< people reading things that aren't there>>>

I hope you're not having a pop at people who are mentally ill because that's just wrong.

:o)
I can't see anything about mental illness in that OP, but one answer's been removed. As jno says, if you find a post offensive, you should report it, not just complain to us here about it.
Ed bhas removed my post:

<<Because he is clearly mentally ill.

I feel rather sorry for him.>>>

I think that is fair enough.

It was intended as a sincere comment prompted by R Soul's obsessive anti-BBC posts but I accept some people might have chosen to be offended by it.

I have no complaints; Ed has to err on the side of caution which is right I think.
