Do you tell the time by your mobile?

Why on a bright sunny day, is it easier to look for the time by a watch?

Because in sunny weather, I have yet to own a mobile that I can see to read text messages never mind check the time.

I use my watch to tell the time as it's on hand (so as to speak), I do use my mobile instead of an alarm clock.
I haven't worn a watch in years. Mainly due to the fact I kept getting them caught on things such as racks and computer cases while fishing around inside them.
I hope not, time running out for the watch I mean. I'd be lost without one.
Im a die hard watch fan and have always been fascinated by them and it makes the man to have several nice watches for different occasions along with nice pair of shoes, belts and aftershaves. I also think in certain professions it is a more professional to tell someone the time using a watch instead of rustling around every pocket and pulling out your phone.
surely you have staff for that sort of thing chuck.

Micky: only several watches? I have about 45, all going, all correct time ( yes, I'm a watch nutter!). Several are rather high-tech , light-powered and radio-controlled etc.
A close friend gave me a very nice watch as a present for being best man at his wedding in 1991. I've been using it ever since. I'll keep using it until it packs in (or I do).
I gave up watches quite some time ago.
To me they are like a 'shackle' that represents a regimented daily routine, a constant reminder of compliance to a specific western way of life - one of conformity and oppression and slavery to a system.
They even *look* like shackles. That and the fact that they get in the way, get caught on things and if I was wearing one that was expensive then I would be constantly sh!t sacred of it getting damaged/stolen.
Yes, I'm happy glancing at my mobile when I need to know the time/date - or better still asking someone.
Nice post btw.
I feel undressed without a watch on - like driving with no seat- belt fastened; feels very strange.
Try it for longer - the sense of freedom is great (probably similar to what naturists enjoy!)
What's with the shackles.............I love my watch, it's the most expensive personal item I own and looks very attractive.
Two people have mentioned getting watches "caught on things". I can be a pretty clumsy bloke, but have never managed to get my watch caught on anything. I'm finding it hard imagining how it could happen.

Answerprancer, I just wanted to check, was your last but one answer satirical?
treat my watches as jewellery...saying that I can't remember the last time I wasn't wearing my favourite swatch with a black, ivory ,and steel enamelled bracelet strap... can bath in it, swim in it (can't see the clock on the pool wall) and it looks quite nice too in a sixties op art sort of way...Mobile festers in the bottom of my handbag collecting fluff and boiled sweets that have escaped their wrappers......now that is something i would gladly do without!
I couldn`t imagine not having a watch on my writst. I have to wear one for work by law anyway. I don`t think the watch will die out.
with the alarm function on most mobile phones time may be running out for alarm clocks as well..

I love my watch
Nah, this is the same as those silly "time is running out for the book" predictions people used to make when the internet grew.
