Bought a wardrobe today at Ikea, got to the car and it wouldn't fit (husband usually goes on his own and hadn't factored in that there would be actual people in the car) so had to take it straight back for a refund - maybe 5 to 10 minutes after we had paid for it. This must be some sort of record time for returning stuff.

Hi Sherrardk, hope you're ok, this may well be a record!............and sadly you're still short of your wardrobe!.............
Probably not the only thing that is in shortage.
Buy it from Argos or one of the big stotes & have it delixered. I wouldn't reccomend from IKEA their delivery charges are astronomical >>>>

We're all good thanks - hope you are too. Don't know what we were thinking - it obviously wasn't going to fit in the car!

Hi Scotman - take it you've never been to Ikea. You seriously lose the will to live and HAVE to buy the thing you came for without any serious thought to how you are actually going to get it home (it would have fitted in the car if we had left the kids somewhere).
I remember when we bought 2 Armchairs from Ikea - we unboxed them - pushed and shoved until they fitted in the car but one of us had to get the train home.
Guess Who !!

Hi Den - but we did come away with the obligatory weird soft toys. This time they are little rats (actually very cute).
If I am feeling cruel I threaten the kids with a weekend trip to Ikea. Works every time!!!!! lol
Oh well sher, it wasn't an entirely wasted journey then, at least the little ones got a soft toy out of it!............where did you go? Cardiff?.........
I love Ikea - especially their coloured chopping boards (I am easily pleased and don't get out much)!!! I always buy at least 4 when I go.

Hi Barmaid - mine don't mind as they know they will get something out of it (about £1 for a rat - bargain).

Hi Welsh - went to Cardiff then for a walk in Penarth along the pier with an ice cream, only went because it was chucking it down here.

Hi Den - we have to go round super-fast (lots of kids!) but I don't mind as I can't be doing with all the stuff. I go with a plan and try and stick to it. My husband walks around in a dream picking up all sorts of rubbish that 'we must have'.
Oh you had a nice time in the end then sher, I love Penarth, haven't been for a while, may do that next weekend!.............good idea!.............
I always come home completely knackered when I've been in Ikea, trailing around and no escape hatch. And try explaining in Swedish the item you want to an assistant.
Hehe gran, I know!..........I've been lost in Ikea so many times!..................lol...........
sherrardk - in my local Ikea they have a kids playarea (and no its not the car park) I see lots of Mums drop the kids off there, I wish they had that when my son was small, he was a bloody nightmare.

Hi AYG - was a bit of a super star today, asked a friend if she wanted anything (expected her to day she wanted some plastic children's plates) and she asked for a specific bookcase and I actually found the right thing (I hope!).

Hi Den - we had the two little ones (the twins) in separate trollleys and it was a nightmare, you'd swear they had been seperated for weeks.
