A march through a part of Bradford is planned by the The English Defence League (EDL) during August bank holiday weekend.
Once again certain factions are trying to get it banned. Why is it it is always the so called 'Right Wing' that are the trouble makers, why not ban the Unite Against Fascism (UAF) who also plan a protest, and can be much more violent than the EDL.
West Yorkshire chief constable Sir Norman Bettison said he was taking the action after considering the "understandable concerns of the community".
The 'community' he is referring to of course is the Muslim community, the so called 'minorities'.
If the march is banned, which seems likely, and a static protest is allowed, I wonder if it will be allowed down Manchester Road, which is in a predominantly Muslim area of Bradford, after all I think that Bradford is predominately still an English city?

can we not just say all marches are intended to provoke trouble, regardless of who they're by and stop being so ruddy provocotive aog? the day you post something sensible on here - like jacket spuds and beans on toast - will make this site more peaceful. i can imagine you behind your keyboard getting off on anyone who you can remotely jump on...juvenile. again. as always...
and the clue in that last post AOG, is the word 'again'.
At the risk of being patronising, the story of the boy who cried wolf revolves around someone who was always saying the same thing over and over and over again until they became an annoying background noise.
I think 'quality rather than quantity' would serve you well as a rule of thumb when posting questions.

I think that is rich coming from a person who has only posted 16 questions since he joined AB in April.
And yet you will sit on the fence and post 1,588 comments on other persons questions.

The EDL do not have a big fan base in Bradford. They are only there to cause as much offence to the local population as possible.
The EDL's fan base is in Swansea, Portsmouth and Luton, so why don't they organise their rallies there. Instead, they target Bradford, Dudley, Blackburn and Bolton, places with a high indigenous non white population, where the EDL have nil support. Their only aim is to cause as much offence to the local population as possible.
They are just a load of thugs out on an away day.

This is a so called free country so they should be free to protest where they like in their own country.

aog - i dare you, no - double dare...to come up with some good old fashioned social research/statistics which back up your points and opinions (as always) rather than somebody else's rhetoric (usually in crappy speech marks and pasted) or what you have managed to scrape from whichever local rag it is you are latching onto today. your repeats of others words and unpolished rants are pathetic...i'd rather listen to count-a-strong any day of the week than you as he is a polite gent who is easy to talk to (about a wide variety of subjects) and you can actually have a difference of opinion with him and discuss it like grown ups...

Why do any groups, regardless of ethnicity, creed, gender etc etc, feel the need to march around anyway? Each has an agenda, therefore none is any more entitled than any other. It's as simple as that.
There are many things I believe in, and lots to which I object, but I do not suppose that any of my opinions, and some are very strong indeed, give me the right to troll around the streets shouting or demonstrating about them in the hope that others would either agree, or would even be remotely interested.
All that happens is that feelings and emotions are usually inflamed to such an extent that violence and disorder's virtually inevitable. Don't ever tell me that there's such an intention of a "peaceful demonstration" - no such thing - there's always an underlying motive.

I think if Oswald Mosley and his patriotic Black Shirts want to march through the East End they should jolly well be allowed to.
This is still a free country and predominantly anglo saxon so far as I know.
When is this country going to get a backbone and stop allowing Jews and Communists so much free reign.
We should take a leaf out of Herr Hitler's book. He is creating an economic miracle in Germany and doesn't take any nonsence from non aryan immigrants and troucle makers.
