cc1, I agree
Mob rule is okay is it?
I agree with all the sentiments so far....BUT.......the prison service do have a duty of care towards inmates (yes really) and technically they have failed him (with 100 + violent incidents a day in prisons the staff have an impossible job) so, he does have a right to sue. Someone mentioned it would be better to offer a one off payment (I mean, what's he going to do with it, go on holiday!) and save a fortune on court costs. I don't like the situation any more than you but, that's the system.
Following on, There must be order in prisons and letting attacks on other prisoners go without any action is not on. OK the man is a monster but if we allow attacks on him without redress then we become as bad as people like him.
dont you just love DO-GOODERS!!!
sorry but a baying mob sounds alright to me in his case....and I accept this will never happen...if only!!
bernie, since the Tories are wanting cutbacks, how about they do away with the police and let vigilantes sort things out?
I have all the time in the world for the police and our prison services....it's the mis-fits like Huntley who I despise and would like to 'get rid of'!!!!
THOUGHT LABOUR DID THAT WHEN THEY WERE IN MATE!!
I DID NOT VOTE IN THE ELECTION AS THEY ARE THE SAME LYING CHEATING NO GOOD PEOPLE!
BET YOU WOULD NOT BE STICKING UP FOR THAT SCUM HUNTLEY IF IT WAS ONE OF YOUR CHILDREN???
The same type of baying mob that attacked a paediatrician's house because they were too stupid to differentiate between paediatrician and paedophile?
OK Bernie, so we'll get rid of the police force and prison service and just let the mob decide everyone's fate shall we?
The perpetrator of the assault should be punished by the authorities,(but applauded by us), but as to compensation - Forget It!. In America they would be astounded by our "mumsy wumsy" way our legal system deals with things like this. He murdered two little girls. His choice. He deserves everything he gets.
sorry had capitals on was not shouting!!
this country will never get any better whilst we have the do-gooder brigade in control, worst than huntley in my view!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
some people are bloody stupid TCL, but to compare that to this evil scumbag????
Tell me, if it were your daughter would you still feel the same????
Harsh Bernie....considering what he did.
TTH, //There must be order in prisons and letting attacks on other prisoners go without any action is not on. OK the man is a monster but if we allow attacks on him without redress then we become as bad as people like him. //

Of course there must be order within prisons, but this isn't redress. Redress would be punishing the perpetrators. This is compensating him for the actions of the perpetrators.
I Thought it was Labour that brought in all these stupid nanny state rules but I wasn't sure, then read Bernies post.
This is actually a very silly thread. Anyone who does not agree with allowing Huntley to be attacked will be dubbed 'A do gooder' 'a Huntley fan' or worse, in other words, mob rule. Agree with us or else!
No, it is called airing ones views TTH...and respecting them?
I agree with Naomi...
