I was announced today that aid to Afghanistan by the UK is being increased by 40%. This is at the expense of withdrawing aid to Russia and China.

But is extra aid to Afghanistan a good idea? The US has just announced it is cutting aid of $4bn to Afghanistan because of the corruption and the money could end up in the hands of the terrorists.

Here is the link regarding Britain's increases to Afghanistan.

Interesting to note that so far India's money isn't being touched.

/// Britain currently gives aid to about 90 countries but Mr Mitchell has already said that some recipients, such as China and Russia, will no longer receive it.///

/// He told the Politics Show on Sunday that India was "roaring out of poverty" and would be looked at very closely. ////

So the extra aid is so that we can do a quick withdrawal. But they said the same when we sent extra troops and it will end the war quickly. Then it was about 3000 troops now the figure is 10300 and they say the same every time, but it gets worse.

Its just like a gambler not knowing when to stop but just ploughs more money in the hope that his luck will turn. Our luck has run out and the number of troops being killed increases the more bodies they send.

I think our politicians are living in cloud cuckoo land. We are deeply in debt and although countries like Afghanistan are not rich they don't have the debts we have.

The government suggestion website have hundreds/thousands of people saying don't throw our money away in foreign aid, just spend it here. Do they listen??
