This time a rogue Afghan soldier, a few months ago a rogue Afghan policeman, can anyone (who apparently we are out there to protect), be trusted?

When our forces happen to accidentally inflict harm on the Afghans, all hell breaks loose, inquiries swiftly organised, and our troops harshly criticised on sites such as this.

I wonder what the response will now be over this terrible slaughter, carried out by a member of a savage religion.

No use saying these are in the minority, and most Muslims are peace loving, if you where out in Afghanistan who would you really trust?

Once again AOG you brighten my day. I laugh out loud at you ridiculous rants. And when others put you right on your savage opinions, you call them anti British! It is your type, sir, that is Anti British. You stand for all the things that this great country abhors, intolerance, racism and bigotry.
.
... and pointing at people.

every true Brit knows that is rude.
.
lol
you haven't really answered the question, aog: had Hitler occupied Britain, would you have joined the resistance and, if necessary, disguised yourself as a German in order to kill a few of them? Or would you refuse on the grounds that it was 'cowardly'?
Cracking point jno - wish I'd thought of that!!
.
///Cracking point jno///

That's code for 'you will not receive a meaningful reply because the question is too taxing'
.
Please no more posts here until AOG answers jno's question.
No it's not Zeuhl - if you track back, I posted two full answers on the previous page.

There may be Questions on AB that are 'too taxing' - but I haven;t found any yet, and to his credit, none are from AOG, who is always very much to the point.
Andy - Oldgit made a statement a while back that some things need to be said. I thought it was quite a controversial statement to make in the context of the subject matter he raised . I asked him to simply explain and......I didn't get a reply.

Oldgit I suggest you stick to the daily mail not because it is british but because the in-depth analysis of Al-Jazeera's news items (even those by british correspondents) may be beyond your comprehension.

I too await Oldgit's reply to Jno's question.
Hello AOG
Re. "We do not want apologists like you in our country, if you were a true Brit". (etc)
Just who the hell do you think you are with this "we"??
Speak for yourself.
(Now you may return to your Daily Express)
(...nasty bitter right-wing old fool)
andy

calm down - calm down

I wasn't having a go at you; I was suggesting that jno wouldn't get a reply from aoFool!
.
Why did we think we could succeed in Afghanistan when the Russians before us had to retreat with their tails between their legs.

We are not just fighting the Taliban but the whole population of Afghanistan aided and abetted by militants from Pakistan. Our military can't admit defeat.
If an Afghan trained by Britain and USA kills other Afghans then he is a loyal and good Afghan. However if he turns around and kills the ones asking him to kill his own country men then he is a disloyal person and the one who has broken the trust. Amazing philosophy.
I am in a dilemna and this must be the longest I've ever spent on a post - should I post, should I not?.............after lots of huffing and puffing and not really being pleased with myself doing so and knowing that I won't be able to go to sleep tonight....my dilema (however spelt) is this:

On one hand - my view of Oldgit has changed and I think its becoming quite contentious now.
On the other hand - I seem to have a clear problem dealing with name-calling or abuse or demeaning personal language of another. I refer to (...nasty bitter right-wing old fool) and 'fool' again.

However I view someone and maybe as harsh as I probably am, this above language in my opinion amounts to verbal bullying and makes me uncomfortable and I'm sorry but I can't ignore this and I have to say that I wish people would back off the demeaning words, leave your opinion by all means but please its not nice witnessing verbal bullying from person to another.

Sorry for this post. Maybe there's a selfish motive and I can sleep peacefully now.
I think we still waiting for a reply from Oldgit. Jno is only asking you to consider what you are saying Oldgit from an angle that you may see more clearly from.
Well? I was expecting a torrent of verbal abuse directed at myself......I don't think I will ever figure out these networking sites function.......its the lonliness........the
quiet.....reticence.....It's a 'here's Johnny' moment.....just the sound of typing.

Oldgit are you there?
Hello....hello?
Seadragon calling Oldgit......come in Oldgit...
Question Author
Just read some of your posts, they seem to be like texts relayed between the mobile phones of kids in a playground.

Thank you Seadragon for pointing out to them the silly name calling, that associates them to school children.

You want me to answer jno's point about if Hitler had invaded Britain, this is totally irrelevant to what I and the whole of the media are up in arms about, have any of you read the headlines or listened to the news?

Although I will be first to admit I don't know why we are in Afghanistan, the fact remains we are not an invading force in the true sense of the word, we are there with the support of a democratic elected government of Afghanistan.

The word 'Invasion' has been mentioned, also some reference to WW2, let me ask this question then, in 1945 should our troops have stopped on the borders of Germany, in case we should be accused of invading a foreign country?

Let me finally state I am not in favour of war, I am not in favour of us being in Afghanistan, but for one reason or another we are out there, and while we are I will support my fellow country men to the hilt, and I am ashamed that rather than address this horrible cowedly act, some on here would rather come up with stupid analogies and revert to childish name calling.

R.I.P. all those that have fell in this conflict and my heart goes out to their families and friends, not forgetting those that have sustained horrible injuries, I do hope you will be soon able to pick yourselves up and carry on with the rest of your lives.

To some on here I say "you disgust me".
Wow....wish I never called you now.....That was quick.

Firstly - the name calling, to remind you was initiated by yourself (cowardly) against an innocent post from another-view.

Secondly - You're not entirely innocent of verbal assault yourself - 'stupid analogies'.

Thirdly - The analogy is not 'stupid'.

Fourthly - The Afghan War is one of invasion depending on what you believe some say the war was planned in early 2000 and some would say the purpose was not against the taliban regime. We support the invasion by the U.S.

And finally .....you have a way of avoiding the issue. You can't just answer a simple scenario? Instead come the sentiments?

P.s - I would becareful with that last sentence as that is what others probably think of you.

/// Firstly - the name calling, to remind you was initiated by yourself (cowardly) against an innocent post from another-view. ///

If you read the post correctly, I did not call another-view cowardly, I was referring to the cowardly attack by the rogue Afghan. soldier.

/// Secondly - You're not entirely innocent of verbal assault yourself - 'stupid analogies'.///

This cannot be described as a personal verbal assault, only my description of an analogy that has in my opinion no bearing on real issue.

/// Thirdly - The analogy is not 'stupid'. ///

In your opinion.

/// Fourthly - The Afghan War is one of invasion depending on what you believe some say the war was planned in early 2000 and some would say the purpose was not against the taliban regime. We support the invasion by the U.S. ///

As I have already stated it is not an invasion of Afghanistan, if it was we would be fighting the ANA (Afghan National Army) not insurgents who wish to instil their own beliefs on the Afghan people.

/// And finally .....you have a way of avoiding the issue. You can't just answer a simple scenario? Instead come the sentiments? ///

On the contrary I do not ever avoid the issue, if I have the time and I believe they are worth replying to I will answer each and every point, as in your case.

Regarding the sentiments, I am sorry they have touched your more humane feelings, feelings that you know you and others should have made instead of criticising me.

/// P.s - I would becareful with that last sentence as that is what others probably think of you.///

Oh come on spit it out, instead of criticising others for name calling, come out with it yourself and say it "you disgust me".
keyplus...the 'western' trained Afghan kills rogue Afghans (those who do not recognise the elected Government)......that's how democracy works.
