I have rarely been more angry reading today about the case of Sgt Mark Leader who was tried, found guilty and dismissed from the Army and may lose his pension. His crime?? After arresting a suspected Taliban Bomber in the act of laying an IED and thinking the prisoner was trying to escape, he momentarily lost his temper and hit him with a wellington boot, split his lip and caused bruising.

Can you blame him????

This Taliban was released to the Afghan Police who let him go, presumably to go back and continue laying bombs.

Our lads are being treated so badly!! I asm incandescent. Anyone agree?

It has been kept very quiet ( there is an election on ) it makes me want to go out and kick the first muslim I can find
I feel there must be a lot more to this story chris. However if true it's bl@@dy disgusting.
I agree, disgusting treatment,he ought to be awarded a bloody medal.
What use would wellington boots be put to in a desert country like Afghanistan?
Remember That the hook handed cleric gets 25.OOO a year and a soldier on the front line gets 17OOO bloody disgrace

The thing is millie, it's not the fault of the muslims it's our pathetic, PC brigade and Labour Government that has caused this to happen. Can you imagine it happening during The Falklands War under Maggie? She Would have given him a medal!!
The Taliban are too canny and scared to take on our army in an honest fight, they have to resort to IEDs and the like. What possible good comes from our lads going out on patrol and possible death day after day? Let's get them out of there.
Any links .on this story Chris. You do Know today is the 11th and not the 1st April lol
I agree chrissa with your sentiments at the end of the day we should pull them out with out delay we are being led up the garden path with Gordon telling us LIES I hope my prayers are answered and we pull them out ASAP
Thanks Dave.

Thanks for that dave, Also see Peter Hitchens column in today's Mail on Sunday. "Two war-weary Marines with a size 10 wellington boot...destroyed by the liars in Westminster".
no problem.

Dave.
A long story but well worth reading. A total disgrace whats happened to these guys.

I have submitted my comment,I hope everyone who reads it submits theirs.
From the article posted by webbo3

"Sgt Leader said he and Capt Wheelhouse went to the tent to check on the guard duty, but upon opening the tent could see no guards, yet found the prisoner, uncuffed and standing up"

"Sgt Leader said: ‘I immediately assumed he was making a run for it"

"L/Cpl Chun returned to the tent, having found Ekhlas a sleeping bag, and told the court she found the two men assaulting the prisoner, who was streaming with blood".

Sounds like there is more to this story than simply wacking the guy once with a boot.

Also Milliezoe £17,000 is pretty much the starting wage for being in the army and lets not forget nobody is forced to join and they also get other benefits.

That said don't think he should have been chucked out. Would have thought a demotion would have sufficed?
so in two sentences he goes from a Taliban suspect to a Taliban? Or, in other words, an innocent man you've just convicted.

The court - that's a court martial, not a pathetic PC brigade lefty Labour civilian court - didn't believe him. No chance it was made up of soldiers who knew when another soldier was lying?
Thanks Chrissa for pointing out that the Government have a lot to say on this one - many Muslims in the UK and around the world have got nothing whatsoever to do with the Taliban. Leaving that aside, the principle of the thing in this case sounds disgraceful. Our soliders come up against guys who'd kill them without a second thought in this war in Afghanistan. I know Army rules are Army rules, but as dennis says there may be more to to this than we know as yet. This is now out in the public doman, we'll wait to hear more.

Dismissal from the Services, especially in the case of an officer, is not undertaken lightly and usually follows a term of imprisonment. There is no mention of any other punishment, apart from dismissal, being awarded in this case. Whilst my sympathies are entirely with the captain and the sergeant, there must be, as previous posts have suggested, a lot more behind this.
He should have just shot the B@stard in the first place ,one less to plant IEDs .As for Chun RMP she should be lynched for ratting on her fellow soldiers .I am bl00dy disgusted .
