I heard this song the other day, lyrics are as follows:

...The space i'm meant to fill...something something something...each time i turn around, there's nothing there at all, so tell me why i feel like im up against a wall...

It was sung by an american woman, had a sort of country vibe to it. Kinda like something you'd get if the delgados and snow patrol bread. if anyone knows what this song is and who does it, please do let me know!!! thanks very much :)

Most of the shows on radio 2 have a website accessed via bbc.co.uk/radio2. They usually have a "music played" button which you could use, or a chance to listen to the show again. This could help you listen for the name or the artist involved. Hope this helps.

Ah, thanks anyways. That was the first thing i tried, but no luck, and its been over a week so the listings have gone :(

I even mailed janice long, but even she was unable to hunt it down. It seems no one is able to track this baby down and get me the details, which is a real shame because it was one of the nicest songs i have heard in such a long long time. Gutted.

I always keep a recordable tape in my radio player, so that when a song comes on i dont recognise / mean to buy, i hit record, so thanfully i have about 30 seconds of this song on tape ("I'll just get the verse and then google search it) absolutely guttted i didn't get it all now! Oh well :(

It's called "False Alarm" by KT Tunstall.

You've probably also heard "Black Horse and the Cherry Tree" by her as they are playing that on R2 as well.

From the Album "Eye to the Telescope"

She's Scottish BTW.
