When will public safety override the whole "rehab" idea?

Time and again lowlives are released into the public domain to rape and murder again. All in the belief presumably that these people are rehabilitated and no longer a danger. The latest of course being the Venables affair. When is life going to start meaning life? How many innocents must suffer before we will say that the liberal "experiment" has failed and just lock up these lowlives and throw away the key?

And when the prisons are too full? Then what?

And youi know for definite that Venables has murdered again do you?
Pretty much what they do in the US isn't it?

Not working too well there is it?
We have come a long way from real justice:

///An eye for an eye, a tooth for a tooth
Meaning

The notion that for every wrong done there should be a compensating measure of justice.

Origin

From the Code of Hammurabi. Hammurabi was King of Babylon, 1792-1750BC. The code survives today in the Akkadian language. Used in the Bible, Matthew 5:38 (King James Version):///

Boo build some more, outsource. Make them less like Butlins, whatever.
Where did I say he'd murdered again? He's committed further offences and is back in jail that's common knowledge. Jake I don't give a rats ar5se about deterent in this post I'm talking about getting them off the street for good. end of.
You mentioned rape and murder again, then said Venables...i obviously put 2 and 2 together and got 5??

Build more? Where? want one next door to you?
Surely the fact that Venables is back in prison shows that the licence system works, rather than that it fails?
Question Author
it was a more general point not specific to Venables
Question Author
no rojash it shows there is a victim somewhere, probably being kept quiet to protect the little sh1t bag. He should not have been out, that's whole point.

There's no shortage of land not near anyone boo. I favour outsourcing the problem though. I can't believe we have so many pro criminal scum walking the streets types here on the basis of "the prisons may get full"!
What do you mean by outsourcing the problem?
Oh I agree, lets send em to Belguim

;-)

It costs us £40-50K per prisoner per year to keep a prisoner in jail. Now if we pay a nation that knows how to run a prison, say Turkey or Thailand for example, to take prisoners serving say over 6 months, so pro rata 20k a prisoner per year, they'd take our arms off at the elbow we'd cut the prison budget in half and won't have to build any more prisons. But the best bit is that the prisoners will some back determined not to go back to those foriegn sh1th0les, every one's a winner, even the prisoners get rehabbed. I can't see the down side! of course you'd get the Islington set bleating 00man rights etc etc but hey I think it's a winner!

No need for that Zeuhl, what's up with my Belguim plan? Actually they might prefer to be burnt rather than being shipped to there.

Geezer I'm with you there, it's time our politicians stopped worrying about upsetting these '' poor'' ratbags & concentrated on the general public. I think the French had the right idea when they used to send major criminals to Devil's Island, I'm afraid that now the do gooders are in charge we shall never see proper justice dealt out, until somebody has the guts to stand up & say enough is enough.
With the general election on the horizon wouldn't it be nice if just one political party stated they were going to do something about law & order.
'He's committed further offences'... No need for a trial then, as you've already found him guilty? That will certainly save the justice system some money.
I was reading a joke book the other day and one "joke" was:

Two psychiatrists were walking along the street, and they saw a man in the gutter all covered in blood and bruises.

One psychiatrist said "We must find the man who did this, he needs help".

I thought it rather struck a chord with what happens with criminals and victims nowadays.
