I think Oneeyedvic has it spot on.

it's not about punishing him for cheating on his wife and being a poor role model. It's about whether his teammates will respect him after letting down another member of the squad.

And if Capello thinks they no longer do, he should replace him. If it had been some random stripper, things might be different.
MarkRae - do you actually have anything to contribute to this discussion, or are you just one of those pernickety little idiots who likes to think they are very clever by pointing out others mistakes?

Have you met Lucy Marks? I am sure you two would get on like a house on fire.
;o) at Squad. I can't wink in real life!!
> pointing out [others] others' mistakes

Doubtless...
i have to agree with vic.

markae is being an annoying twonk
John Terry went to the same school as me (just thought I would pass that useless bit of information on)..........

I can't see why he was sacked - if its not affecting his ability to do his job, then whats the problem.
in Mark's defence....although I'm sure he won't thank me for it............he is overly nitpicking regarding other peoples' posts but does give some very good advice as well......
The argument here is that by cheating on his wife with a woman who used to be the girlfriend of one of his team-mates (though not actually at the time of the alleged incident) he has lost the respect of the rest of the team and is, therefore, unfit to retain the captaincy...

None of us presently involved (or not!) in this discussion is remotely qualified to decide that...
It'll all soon blow over, as did the affairs with Prince Charles, John Major, et., etc., etc.,

But Capello is. And he has.
That's right. It's a fait accompli now, irrespective of the moral argument...
What qualifications do you need to hold an opinion on this subject?
All footballers are overpaid and overrated. I live in a male dominated football household - Mr. Den works for Tottenham Hotspur and my son plays semi-professional so I BLOODY HATE FOOTBALL..........................phew .....breathe ......
well didn't he thump a taxi driver, try to flog backroom tours to chealsea as well ?

hardly the actions of an ambassador for our national team in our national sport.
Rio Ferdinand is Englands new Captain !!
Well, principally you need to be one of John Terry's England colleagues or, at the very least, very closely associated with them to determine whether his actions have lost him the respect of his team-mates thereby rendering him unfit to retain the captaincy...
if you have no interest in this subject, why do you bother reading the answers and correcting people's spelling / grammar?
