Yes, the right decision.

He's supposed to be a spokeman for the England football team. Which reporter is going to want to discuss football if he's presented for an interview? Also, it would be rather awkward having the very guy whos missus you borked around you all the time .

Incidently, I've no sympathy for him- he's proving to be a typical footballer, thick as pig swill.
> it would be rather awkward having the very guy [whos] whose missus you [borked]
> bonked around you all the time

Ex-missus...
Well that makes it ok then....
and I'll let you have whose, but i meant borked..ok? That fine with you?
It might be ex but she is still the mother of Bridges child, not just some fling he had.

I imagine he's not too pleased ex or not....
from earlier:

A captain needs to command respect and loyalty from his team mates.

If his team mates are happy that he slept with an EX girlfriend of a team mate despite being married, then there is no issue.

If on the other hand, they are cheesed off with him, then he doesn't have the respect and loyalty that a captain needs to lead a team to victory.

The decision can only be made by his manager with or without the consultation of the players.
Odd isn't it.......UK on it's high moral ground again.

If this had happened in Spain, France, Italy, Germany....it would probably never have got to the front page of any newspaper. No big deal.

Of course he shouldn't have been sacked.
karma.....
Agree about your remark about 'typical footballer'. They all seem to be much of a muchness. The right decision, well really I don't know and I don't care.
Stevie G is the man. World Cup glory awaits!
is it decided then ?

"A report on Sky News believes Terry has been relieved of his duties following a 12-minute meeting, although the Football Association and the Premier League leaders have declined to comment. "
> Stevie G is the man

Do you mean Steven Gerrard...?
We hold footballers in too high a regard anyway. If they are worthy of captainship because of their skills then their private lives shouldn't matter. Unfortunately though they can't keep their private lives to themselves.
The wrong decision.

His private life has nothing to do with his job.

Half the FA were sh@gging Faria Alam, including the England Manager, and no one lost their job.

Just a bunch of Hypocrites.
> captainship

captaincy
we never seem to have this problem with the England Ladies team............
as sqad says, no other country would have made an issue of this. also, if the papers had printed the story when it first came to their attention, it may have aroused a bit of interest then been forgotten.
the fact that terry sought to gag the press using a super-injunction, did nothing to enhance his standing with them and once the gag was withdrawn, they were hardly likely to leave him alone.
Thank you Markrae. I'm obviously back at school here. However,
