Will this make a blind bit of difference? I cant remember packets of cigarettes with child friendly packs, caroon characters and little puzzles on the back can you?
From what i remember children start smoking to look cool as all the older kids and parents are doing it and are then hooked by the nicoteen and not the thrill of having a psychodelic pack of rothmans in their pocket!
And banning smoking outside the entance? So instead of the workers taking 5 minutes and getting back to work they'll now have to go further and spend more time away from their desks? Will either of these make a big difference to the hardcore smokers out there?

The majority of people who smoke now are lost to their addiction. Cancer, heart disease, or whatever, will take them in due course.
It's stopping young people starting that should be the aim. Anything that can make smoking look less attractive must be a good thing.
If won't make a blind bit of difference, no.
'Will this make a blind bit of difference'

Sandy if a kid is looking at someone lighting up a grey packet will not stop the look of satisfaction and "Coolness" as someone take the first few puffs after a stressfull time which im guessing is the thing a kid takes in more then what colur their packet was.
NOOOOOO!!
Do the same to spirit bottles then and beer cans - let's be fair!

The more you're nagged and preached at, the more you dig your heels in - do these dogooders never grasp this fact.

Good point paross, i dont care what colour the booze comes bottled or canned in as long as it "contains the goods" thoufgh if they starting selling booze in all greay containers my mini bar would less exciting and seductive.
Smokers start smoking (as said before) to emulate peers. The colour of the packs isn't going to make a blind bit of difference. Cannabis comes wrapped in clingfilm For Funks Sake, you couldn't get more plain if you tried.

As for stopping people smoking, this country would go bankrupt if everyone did. Every year more money is paid by smokers in tax, than is given to the NHS.
"Tramp Juice" can seduce anyone mrmoon!

Another great point bob!
Lol@Dizmo! Too true!
If they banned alcohol I'd just brew it myself at home which would be even worse for my liver! I know one alcoholic that used to brew wine at home and he said he wasn't even decantering it, just drinking it out of big wine 'jars'.
<<Will this make a blind bit of difference? I cant remember packets of cigarettes with child friendly packs, caroon characters and little puzzles on the back can you? >>

Well yes I can - way back there were cigarette cards which kids loved collecting.

Have to agree it won't make much difference though.
Hi Paross I'm here now ! lol
I've Smoked since the age of 12 and having more nonsense imposed on us Lepers is ridiculous. Why are Smokers singled out and not Drug Addicts or Alcoholics.
Are Smokers a danger to Society. I smoke Rollups and do not intend to stop now as it is supposed to be a Free Country.
The idiots who keep bringing out new rules are the ones who should be banned and not the Smokers.
ive yet to meet someone who chooses one brand over another because the pack is nicer...

i dont smoke but im tempted to start just because of lambert an butlers groovy silver pattern...
Do you remember Kensitas cigarettes? They used to contain 'vouchers' you could save up until you had enough to choose a gift out of their catalogue. My Mum's next door neighbours used to smoke 400 - 500 a week to get the gifts!! Hilarious
I used to save the Coupons myself Paross and had a Catalogue to choose the Gifts. There were some useful things in it as well.

Redman I literally had tears streaming from my eyes as I read through those!
No sure what planet bob is on, smoking rakes in approx 6 billion, the NHS costs 80 billion, hardly "more tax than is givben to the NHS".The true cost of smoking is approximately 20 billion, so, smokers. you owe us 14billion, cough up!
Mrmoonshine, I wish I could still get some Ayres cherry pectoral (heroin & morphine)
because I have been full of cold for the last week and I am sick of it!!

Redman - I think I tasted my first ciggy when I was about 12 (my Dad's Senior Service)pinched of course, but I started smoking regularly at 14 (when I joined the Youth Club)along with my mates. It was never considered to be a health risk.
