1. Allow the intrusion of flood waters in low lying areas
2. Just defend our vunerable towns and cities
3. Strengthen our sea defences on many parts of the coast even where there is little population
4. Use stilts to build housing above sea levels
5. Do nothing, pretend it will never happen losing millions of hectares of land even though the population may reach 70m

Any solution will take £bns so what could be cut to pay for it?

Tonyted you might find it a bit crowded
Stilts?
If it's going to happen then there's very little that can be done, a 2m rise could not be defended against, effectively. So we are looking at 5 regardless.
I'm going with option 5.

So no cuts need to be made.

You see - end of problem.

I live on a hilltop, so what I'm really going to need is guns and high walls
Hmm...

“The scenarios we have created are extreme, but it is an extreme threat we are facing," observed Ms Reed.”

There is no data that supports this sea level change theory. Global sea levels are not rising. The Maldives are the proof of this. If there had been any increase in global sea levels, even by a couple of feet, the Maldives would have vanished. But they're still there. The tidal gauges installed over 30 years ago show that there has been no increase in sea level whatsoever.

Birdie I don't think you are correct. Have you ever seen the Boston stump where sea levels are routinely marked?
